Just had my first ever self isolation notice through the app. It says I have to isolate until 3 January at midnight. Does that mean I had contact with the person 10 days prior (24 December)?

The only place I was around people outside my household for more than 15 mins that day was waiting for my 12 week scan in the hospital waiting room. And I'm sure we were 2m apart...??

If you read the faqs, it’s not about 2 meters or 15 minutes etc. It’s more complicated than that.

How do you know the person who who performed your scan hasn’t tested positive?

The last thread like this, the OP was adamant she had only nipped to the corner shop for 3 minutes that day. She is now positive.

Not to be alarmist, but do not dismiss this, and please isolate

mamababy1955555 · 30/12/2020 22:16

Oh no, I'm definitely going to isolate. I'm just trying to retrace the day. But yes, I did wonder if it was the sonographer.

But I'm right in thinking it must've been 24 December?

I would make sense considering the close proximity. Hope you are ok!

My head is a mess today, but would midnight jan not be 25th December you had contact..

PTW1234 · 30/12/2020 22:20

3rd Jan*

dementedpixie · 30/12/2020 22:23

There's a bit in the app that will tell you when contact was

mamababy1955555 · 30/12/2020 22:27

Do you know how to find it? Thanks - that would be really useful to know.

It was me a pp was referring to, I got a positive result today and on my ‘encounter day’ according to the app i had literally just gone to the corner shop and was there a few minutes. As far as I can recall I didn’t go near anyone and don’t remember it being busy. But I guess it only takes one person to pass it to you.

If you go into ‘manage my data’ on the app it will show you the encounter date.

Having said that, it’s now got me thinking. How do they know that was when I caught it? I could have already had it before that day and the fact that I was in a shop with someone that later tested positive is just a coincidence. There’s no way of knowing for sure.

My test result took 6 days, luckily I had followed the self isolation instruction.

mamababy1955555 · 30/12/2020 22:38

I've just checked and my exposure date was 24 December (thanks for the info everyone). So it could be the waiting room, or the scan... the only other place I was for 15 plus mins was a McDonalds drive thru with my windows up. Would be nice to think it was the person in the car next to me!

Are you feeling ok @Ozzie9523?

Ozzie9523 · 30/12/2020 22:44

Yes fine so far thank you, bit panicky but trying to think positive! 🤞

Enidblyton1 · 30/12/2020 22:48

Does the app tell you time of day of the exposure? Seems ridiculous to isolate for 10 days if your car was next to someone else in McDs queue. Any way of ruling this out?

mamababy1955555 · 30/12/2020 22:54

It just says the date. I think I'll have to assume it was somebody at the hospital. Hope not - there were a lot of pregnant ladies there Sad

Mine was the couple next door. I hadn't left my house for three days before the exposure date! It picked up through walls!

Out of interest, were you wearing a mask, and did you sanitise once you left the shop, then wash hands and wipe shopping down with anti-bag? Thanks

Unlikely, medical staff are told not to use the app/not have it on at work. Otherwise they'd never be in!
wibdib · 31/12/2020 02:34

But if it was the sonographer then the hospital would be able to look up all the people that had aointments and notify them (whether via the app or other means) - so it could still potentially be them, even if they turn the app off at work.

But then they're supposed to go via Test and Trace because that's legal and official.

I don't think the app can used in that way, it has to interact with other app users.

mamababy1955555 · 31/12/2020 08:47

Perhaps the waiting room then. I guess I'll never know.
