It's grim, depressing, worrying up ticks, particularly the south east.

NHS has no seen the impact since Xmas day.

Sobering...

Off to school precious children!!

Enjoy!!

I am not sending my dc back into this wicked dangerous situation.

I'm praying a journalist says...

You're sending precious children back into a dangerous situation!

Dogatetheleftovers · 30/12/2020 17:16

JVT just saying picture will look worse once Christmas mixing effect is seen! If it’s already bad, going to get worse, why why why are they opening up all of education?

PandemicPavolova · 30/12/2020 17:17

Poor primary school teachers.

itsgettingweird · 30/12/2020 17:17

Awwwww they call him JVT too. That's made my day. Love him!

Not a happy message but much more realistic than our shortening tunnel with a brighter light and we've started to accelerate through it.

I want this over.

But I want the truth.

the80sweregreat · 30/12/2020 17:17

Gavin Williamson is very weak. It's a huge job and he can't cut the mustard can he?
We are in a black area and we don't know about schools still.
It's very unsettling and not fair on parents teachers staff or the children.

PandemicPavolova · 30/12/2020 17:17

Because apparently their eduction will fall apart and crumble if they don't get the next 2 or 3 weeks of school.

RedskyAtnight · 30/12/2020 17:18

[quote GabsAlot]just seen this list dont know f its confirmed for primary schools not opening

If that list is correct, I wouldn't call it a "few" areas. It looks like most of London, Essex and Kent plus some other places like Milton Keynes, Watford and Hastings. Must be a sizeable proportion of the country, number wise?

itsgettingweird · 30/12/2020 17:18

"Covid loves a crowd"

Well it's gonna have its own NYE on 4th January then.

Bluewavescrashing · 30/12/2020 17:20

Lots of things have happened this year that I wouldn't have believed to be possible. Quite high up is that there is now a minister of education that I despise more than Gove. In fact I've been warming to Gove 😱

The experts know they should shut schools, but can't say it here.
Abraxan · 30/12/2020 17:21

Poor primary school teachers

At the very least they need regular testing for primary school staff surely?
And to get the vulnerable teaching staff vaccinated as soon as they can would be ideal - I know there are reasons why this won't happen and they have to wait their turn in reality, but in an ideal world...

GabsAlot · 30/12/2020 17:21

dont comparen vaccines jvt says

but the media will anyway

BentBastard · 30/12/2020 17:21

It should be ALL schools. Nothing is ever learned from experience. The low levels will Not stay low if schools open up on site. Insane!

Dogatetheleftovers · 30/12/2020 17:22

We love JVT and the way he explains everything.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/12/2020 17:22

It’s really impressive that he’s managed to become more hated than Gove while doing absolutely nothing.

the80sweregreat · 30/12/2020 17:22

At least Michael Gove is organized. I dislike the man too, but he would be clearer than Gavin W is I think.

Abraxan · 30/12/2020 17:22

"Covid loves a crowd"

Except crowds of school children it would seem though Hmm

TheSunIsStillShining · 30/12/2020 17:24

I'm happy that sec schools will be delayed until the 18th (if all goes well). But what do they expect to happen after the 18th if they:

  • send kids back to the same environment as before*
  • no mass vaccinations is going to happen by then
  • even if a miracle happened and our numbers were in the 100s not 50k+ there is still no effective ttr....
*- even worse because no isolation but flawed lateral flow test idea

What will prevent us from being in almost exactly in the same position as now in 2 months?

Did anyone with at least one brain cell think this through?
There's kicking the can down the road and then there's this.

IceDiscoSkater · 30/12/2020 17:24

He is very clear and concise and also much slower at speaking.
Easier to listen to, not one single “ Um “ or “ uh”

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/12/2020 17:25

Do you think Jonathan from south London is JVT?

SamsMumsCateracts · 30/12/2020 17:25

I completely agree with the poor teachers sentiment. Please don't forget about those of us in nurseries, we are in the same boat, but with added personal care and less hygiene from the little ones.

GabsAlot · 30/12/2020 17:26

nightingale hospitals on standby funny london one looked cleared out
