Feeling it so much today

Feeling so sad and anxious.
Will we ever get our lives back?
My mental health is hanging by a thread.
I can’t see my DP as he lives in another tier and with a flatmate.
I haven’t seen my parents since July.
I had tickets to the Royal Opera House for my birthday in June, which I’m thinking likely won’t go ahead now.
I know these are all trivial things compared to people losing their lives, but I’m scared for my mental health.
The tiny glimmer of positivity about the vaccine has disappeared and replaced by even more anxiety and loss of control for the future.

Hi, didn’t want to read and not reply. I think a lot of people are finding it’s getting trickier, things will get back to some kind of normal, try and keep remembering that if you can . Can you do some little things to help your anxiety? Sounds silly I know but having a hot bath, reading a book, watching a film, go for a walk and get some fresh air even if it is raining! Just little things to break up your days?

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 29/12/2020 21:07

I hear you. This is all very hard.

I do have a lot of hope - we are moving towards spring now. We have to hang on in there as things are going to get better even if the next few weeks end up being extremely hard.

I am just trying to focus on today but also remembering there will definitely come a time when we look back and this is just a bad memory. It is 100% guaranteed that day will come even if we don't know exactly how far away it is. Do you have some comfort tv you could watch?

Feel exactly the same. My anxiety is off the scale. I'm trying to distract myself playing games on my phone. It's shit.

I know how you feel. Trouble is, Mumsnet is possibly the worst place for covid related stuff. The salivating at long hard lockdowns and scaremongering "My 5 young healthy friends are in ICU as we speak" is just ridiculous.

Completely agree with you I’m on maternity leave and am desperate to have a little bit of normality before I go back to work at the end of the summer. I think for my own sanity I need to stop reading the COVID threads on here as the scaremongering doom ridden posts are not reflective of what most people think. The love for lockdowns and restrictions and the total disregard for mental health and any thing other than COVID is scary but I honestly think those posters do it for effect and to get a reaction. It will get better, spring is approaching. Fresh air and exercise outside really has helped me the last few months. Keep going we will get there and imagine how lovely it will be when we do!
