Nursery closures

Hi all. I'm finding it really difficult to find any info on whether nurseries are likely to close should tighter restrictions be imposed tomorrow...there only ever seems to be info on schools. Does anyone have any insight into this? Appreciate there is no crystal ball for what might be said but if anyone works in the field or has any experience from march lockdown? (My son wasn't in daycare then and is only sue to start on 4 Jan with my return to work) x

Early years tend to be an after thought for the government

i'm also fed up with there never being any mention of nurseries.

No idea, and I concur with the previous posts. It's like the government have no concept of early years care unless it's a Montessori-trained nanny living in their pool house.

My 2 dc nursery shut for 12 weeks last time. It was hell!
Oldest is now at school and we have moved our youngest to a nursery which stayed open last lockdown and have said they will do so for any subsequent lockdowns (we are keyworkers).
I dont think there really are guidelines, the nurserys are advised to stay open to key worker parents however for our old nursery ot was just not feasible

No-one knows, but I hope the government recognise the need to ensure that young children can stay in childcare and school.

I was at home working full time with my toddler in the last lockdown and I'm not going back there, I plan to use various friends and relatives to cover his days if they close again. Childcare closed at the same time as schools in the spring lockdown.

I know it is difficult to wait, but honestly, I would just wait and see. I've seen threads asking this nearly everyday and honestly noone knows sadly. It is frustrating that things get leaked so much before confirmation. All I've seen so far is schools mentioned (mainly secondary)
The first lockdown (march) they were open for key workers only. The lockdown in November they were open as normal. So noone can predict. And anyone working in the government would not be allowed to answer this thread anyway.

No one bloody knows. Knowing the shit show this has been so far I'd expect an announcement at about 6pm on Sunday evening.

It's almost like those making the decisions have nannies and au pairs so don't remember to think about those of us with other childcare arrangements.
