I’m in Devon and popped over to my local Boots this afternoon to pick up a prescription and then planned to go to Sainsbury’s to do my weekly shop. It was crazy! When I arrived it was a queue of about 25 people just to get into Boots (it’s a big store so had a maximum capacity of 54). Everyone was buying the massively reduced Christmas gift sets and stuff. Then I couldn’t even get into the car park at Sainsbury’s as it was queued all down the slip road.
I’d assumed that people weren’t going to bother with January sale shopping this year. Or is everyone just carrying on as normal? I was planning to get a few extra bits at Sainsbury’s to bulk up my Brexit stash but I guess everyone is thinking the same thing possibly?
Is it like this across the country or just in the remaining Tier 2 areas? I’m also surprised that so many of the hotels are still open despite supposedly only accepting guests from Devon and Cornwall. If they’re not entitled to any money otherwise though it’s hardly surprising.
