To test or not to test

I’m not feeling 100%. Any other year I would assume I was getting a cold and carry on as usual with paracetamol and lots of tissues along with feeling sorry for myself. Obviously this is not any other year though.
I’m a frontline worker as is my husband. If I go for a test we are both out of work. Obviously if I had definite symptoms I wouldn’t hesitate but I don’t. If I wait and see and continue to work though I’m putting others at risk if it’s more than a cold. If we are both out the health care facility where we both work will be seriously short staffed at a very very busy time. Hard to see where I could have got it as I have been nowhere others than with my family since I finished work on Christmas Eve. Aargh 😠

Test, especially given your work.

If you're a frontline healthcare worker do you not have tests to do yourself at home?

gemandjule · 29/12/2020 17:32

I’m not in the U.K. so no, no tests at home. Wouldn’t change the need for both of us to stay out of work until we get results anyway. Only PCR tests accepted. Results would take at least 24 hours if done outside hospital.
