Oxford Watch - when do you think it will be approved?

Today? Tomorrow?

I realise I shouldn’t be so obsessed, given that the rollout is scheduled for next Monday, but I can’t help myself.

I think Wednesday

Is the rollout definitely scheduled for Monday? That makes it sound like it is already approved.

Hapixmas · 28/12/2020 09:51

I had originally heard today but don't ever believe anything the government say so anytime before the end of the week I guess!
All I hope is that if they approve it, they also give us a thorough plan of what this mass vaccinating will actually look like. Like exactly how many a week.

@notevenat20 I’ve seen reports on several news outlets that rollout is scheduled for Monday - but that can only be in pencil, until it is approved.

I’ve been seeing/hearing Monday/Tuesday for approval since last week.

My thought was, why don’t they start using it immediately, the day after it’s approved? But of course you have to get people in, and there is much more Oxford available than Pfizer. So my hunch is that, once approve, they will finalise the delivery land and GP practices will start booking people in in much larger numbers.

Since it is stable at fridge temperature, no-shows are not an issue in the same as with the Pfizer one, so the vaccine won’t go to waste. So they can overbook sessions and be confident that people will queue if necessary.

@PuzzledObserver I am pretty sure that if you emailed 100 people in the morning you would get a large number in by the afternoon.

Lindy2 · 28/12/2020 10:04

I really hope today or tomorrow.

With the awful rising numbers we desperately need some good news again.

Well I’d have thought so too - or phone them, as they are doing in my area. And they started administering the Pfizer one within a couple of days, didn’t they?

So I’m back to not understanding why they don’t start immediately after approval.
