How long for a test result right now?

Apparently there have been lots of extra tests booked over Xmas by people wanting to see family safely. Facebook friends have reported being tested 4-5 days ago and not getting a result yet. You have to isolate while waiting for a result. I feel off colour but I can’t afford to be waiting around isolating for 5 days if there’s nothing wrong with me, so I’m debating just not getting tested?

Are these timeframes for everyone pcr results or rapid flow as the rapid lateral flow are quick -within few hours- but not available everywhere

Mine was PCR on Xmas Eve. I also said I was a key worker when booking the test (doesn’t matter at the moment because I am school worker) but still no result. It’s no wonder that people don’t follow the isolation rules especially household members if it takes this long to process tests. I have symptoms so very likely to be positive so we are isolating correctly. Have worked out our own isolation dates and if we had any contacts ( we don’t) then I would have contacted them myself. It’s no wonder it’s spreading as I am already heading into day 5. If I did have contacts then they would have been free to spread it further.

PCR 9am Boxing Day. Tier 4 drive through London. Still waiting
