Hi all! Looking for people that experienced having COVID with their newborn.

I’ve tested positive and have a 7 weeks old. Anyone that’s gone through something similar would care to share how it went?

Thank you very much.

Baby should have good immunity from mother, but obviously keep an eye on baby for high temperature. Hope you are ok.

I have no idea but wanted to bump this as you must be all over the place with worry and feeling ill. Fingers crossed its a very mild case for you both.

I had DS in mid Feb and as a family we all came down with a cold and cough in early March. DH and I also had bad headaches and aches and pains - quite possibly could have been Covid. DS has typical cold symptoms in a small baby - very snuffly and blocked up. Lots of green bogeys in his nose and found it very hard to feed. He slept very badly when he was congested but got better after about a week.
So I would suggest, treat as any other respiratory bug in an infant - if they are feeding and having wet nappies then that is a good sign. Keep checking temperature. There are quite a few remedies for blocked up baby noses if your LO is struggling.
The key things are temperature and dehydration so keep an eye on them. Any concerns, even minor, call 111 or your GP. They will prioritise a newborn. Good luck! Hopefully your LO will be over it soon.

@Samc3 hi I'm in the same situation, just tested positive with a 6 week old. Just wondering how you abs your baby are now? Did you get any advice from NHS? Did you have to isolate away from your baby?

@worriedcovidmum hi! Sorry it took me so long.

We were lucky nor my partner or baby developed any symptoms. How are you getting on?

I’ve just had a test as i’ve been unwell. I have an 8 week old baby. She has been bunged up, lots of bogeys blocking her nostrils and can’t feed.

Hi
My baby was admitted to hospital - non Covid related, (he had a bad skin reaction to some new eczema cream) he was tested in hospital and the test came back positive. It's been a really really stressful few days but his isolation period is over on Wednesday and so far he hasn't shown any Covid symptoms. If it hadn't been for the reaction to the cream we wouldn't have even had him tested. Just hoping he stays well abs doesn't develop any symptoms in the next few days.

The baby won't necessarily have any symptoms if positive

However mine had mottled skin, didn't keeping down most her feed and cried a lot due to discomfort. She also didn't put any weight on for a couple of weeks.

Very unpleasant but after being checked out at hospital didn't need treatment. It was just a matter of getting the milk to stay down.

She is perfectly fine and healthy now. No long term problems.
