I had a positive result after having a test on Monday. I had no actual covid symptoms but DH had been in close contact with someone who tested positive after just having headaches and aches and pains. We had both been suffering from cold symptoms for a few days and tested to be sure as my parents are very vulnerable and I am in their care bubble.
The result was a shock but since then I have lost all of my sense of smell and some taste. The main symptom we have had is crushing exhaustion and just feeling run down but last night and today I have had a fever and just feel awful. This is day 7 from the test and I think I had it before then, is it normal to suddenly get worse after this long? Has anyone else had this and when did it get better? I've barely been out of bed today and the DC's have been left to their own devices. Is there an end in sight?

To add to my post yesterday I now have severe nausea and absolutely no energy. Has anyone else had this and how long did it last?

I’m with you!! Lost my sense of taste and smell on 21st- tested on 22nd and positive results came through yesterday. I’m on day 7 and feel nauseous, exhausted and foggy headed. No fever right now but just feel generally crappy. I hope you have a quick recovery x

Nearlytherenext · 28/12/2020 13:57

I'm a few days behind you OP :-(

An absolutely crushing headache for 4 solid days. Now, I have body aches.
My back, bum and legs are in so much pain. I can't get comfy and can't sleep.
I tidied the DC bedrooms and feel completely exhausted like you.

I don't feel nauseous. Although I did the other night.

It's such a strange virus, each day brings a different symptom. On the bright side my SIL had it worse than we have and she is feeling almost back to normal after 10 days so we're hopefully on the home straight now

I have had several staff off with Covid over last month and most of them felt tired and nauseaus. Most were back at work after their 10 days isolation but one off a bit longer with continued fatigue and nausea and one due back tomorrow and messaged today to say still very fatigued with some nausea.

Suzysuz · 28/12/2020 15:07

The symptoms are so different aren't they although I'm very similar to the ones on this thread - I have no clue on when I caught it, I'd had about a week of headaches and really sore back and hips, I thought I'd pulled something!
Then I felt rough as on Boxing Day, lost smell and taste, fever, cough and tight chest, shivery still with the headaches and body pains. We went and got tested, still waiting for results but I'll be surprised if it isn't covid...
No headache today, still up and down temperature, cough and hard breath of active (just as I'm going up stairs 🤣) and exhausted, also had a couple of weird small bruises, no blister but look like a bit of blood/bruise under skin, only small, one on back of finger and one on top of foot so not sure if that's linked too...

Porcupineintherough · 28/12/2020 15:10

It is totally normal to feel worse in the second week than the first with COVID. A rollercoaster of different symptoms is normal too unfortunately.
Just keep an eye on your breathing (ideally blood o2) and you should start to feel better in week 3.

Northernsoullover · 28/12/2020 15:16

My partner has covid. He knew it was a possibility as was a contact (work). I tried to persuade him not to test until he had symptoms but he was desperate to find out so he waited until day 5. It was positive and the symptoms came on day 7 (post exposure).
He seems to think he has had it for ages and is concerned that he isn't feeling better but if you think about it most people have no idea until they actually start feeling ill that they may have covid.
If he hadn't known about the exposure and tested when symptoms began, in his head he'd be on day 2 of covid when the reality is he is 9 days in.
I hope I haven't confused you Confused

My son had Covid back in April, i thought he had turned the corner but he then developed a horrendous sore throat and temp rose again, i think that was around day 7. He often felt sick all the way through and was in bed for 13 days.

I am suspicious that i caught it a few days after DS, headache, sore throat, funny taste and a bit of an upset stomach, i also got some marks on my feet, bruised looking like you have mentioned.

Msloverlover · 28/12/2020 15:34

I’m on day 8 since losing smell and testing positive, but nearly a week of headaches before that. I felt better days 5 and 6 than I do now, but still very mild. Tired and achey with a really wet cough but only in the morning. And cerrrazy dreams.

Sueaxlbrick · 28/12/2020 18:25

Yes, i felt better on Christmas day which would have been day 5 from positive test (which is what I'm going from since the symptoms I had before that were so insignificant and I don't know if it was covid) but worse yesterday and today. Thank you for all of the replies though, i feel so much better knowing this seems to be the normal progression of the illness.

How's everyone doing today? I am day 9 after my positive test and still feeling really sick and have no energy at all, I'm just in bed all day, i don't have the energy to do anything else.

I'm a bit concerned after reading some posts ....on Christmas night 4am boxing day morning I woke up feeling strange, tossed abd turned for about 40 mins and then suddenly got up as I felt a bit sick. Went to bathroom was sick 3 times. Went back to bed and had terrible pains all over my body my hips the worst couldn't get comfy..even the duvet hurt touching my ankles
..I stayed in bed all day and evening (not like me) I haven't been physically sick in about 8 years we all have strong stomachs.

The oddest thing is no-one else caught it, 😳 it wasn't food poisoning we all at the Same. I don't even know how I caught it as I do click and collect & had my shopping delivered last week. Not seen anyone as I'm working at home & kids were off school since 14th Dec. That's stated me thinking it's not a gastric flu.

Has anyone else started covid with sickness & aching for 1 day and random shooting pains after that?

PapercraftNinja · 29/12/2020 22:17

Yep! I had a headache for 4 days so severe I was due a drs appointment as they thought it was a migraine. I thought it was the pain making me feel and be sick. I felt better for a day or two then lower back pain so bad I couldn’t sleep, neck pain but no fever yet (hopefully won’t get worse but who knows).

Suzysuz · 30/12/2020 06:44

I'm day 5 ish, lost smell/taste and temps on Boxing Day so we all got tested, all came back positive.
Mine definitely had started about a week before with headaches and back and hip pain, I thought I'd pulled something it was so sore but looks like quite a few have had this too.
I'm feeling awful still ☹️ there's just no respite and it keeps you on toes with symptoms - ah here's a fever for you, now nausea, hacking cough so you think you'll be sick and can't breath, now a piercing headache and here's, yes another fever for you! Going up stairs feels like a marathon.
Am glad for our oxygen finger reader even if it's just to give an idea as husband has underlying health conditions.
I had a little cry for my son yesterday, he's only 3 and getting very little stimulation given he's normally so active and outdoors... he's had his moments but he's been so good for us while we just can't do anything right now ❤️
On the plus we're sleeping during nights well 🤣

Sueaxlbrick · 30/12/2020 13:23

Just checking in to see how everyone else is doing? My nausra and sickness is actually getting worse now and is the only symltom I have. I have now started to actually be sick rather than just feeling sick. I've just had some anti-sickness pills prescribed so fingers crossed. I havent heard of anyone else suffering this long with the sickness?
I hope everyone else is making a speedy recovery.
