To return to work or not?

I tested positive for Covid 6 weeks ago and have been off work since. I work on healthcare in a clinic setting with currently a mixture of telephone and face to face consultations. These typically last 45-60 minutes. I wear a face mask for 8 hours when at work.

So a lot of my symptoms have eased with ongoing treatment (not hospitalised) and I’m now wondering whether to return to work. I’m able to potter about the house but only for 5-10 minutes. My chest begins to get sore and my heart rate raises easily (120 making a sandwich), usual resting HR is 60 but currently 80-90. I’m also still experiencing aches and jelly legs if I over do it.

I’m interested in those who’ve also had Covid what you’re thoughts on returning are?

You don't sound well enough to be working (I don't have long Covid but I've had something similar for years). Any way you could start off gently in a couple of weeks by doing one or two phone appointments a week from home?

Can work not send you for an occ health assessment? From what you say it seems like you will need a slow staggered back to work

I think I’ll ask for an occupational health assessment but am unsure if they’re doing them currently.
I’m absolutely worn out this afternoon, I think
I did too much this morning.

You don’t sound well enough, unless you can arrange a phased return of half days and doing telephone consults only from home.
