how will people celebrate?

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 27/12/2020 08:41

The tiers will change as some areas will go up but not down. People can celebrate at home this year.

Mousehole10 · 27/12/2020 09:09

Tiers will change, more people into tier 4. We will be celebrating with our support bubble.

Remmy123 · 27/12/2020 09:10

Celebrate what 😂

lovelemoncurd · 27/12/2020 09:16

Celebrate!! Right! We are having a quiet one at home as we did Christmas.

Skipsurvey · 27/12/2020 09:17

celebrate the end of 2020

Skipsurvey · 27/12/2020 09:18

i guess the celebrations as more people are vaccinated will be great.

Do nothing. We’re staying at home on our own. What other options do we have?

PuppyMonkey · 27/12/2020 09:19

Down the pub, massive parties and dancing in the street of course. Oh wait...

Theimpossiblegirl · 27/12/2020 09:22

I'm finally getting the NYE of my dreams. Staying at home in my PJs with a film/book and bottle of fizz.
We have arranged a midnight doorstep toast with the neighbours but that's it. I feel sorry for my teens, missing out on the partying, but there will be other opportunities.

Justa47 · 27/12/2020 09:24

@Skipsurvey

An eve with support bubble. X

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 27/12/2020 09:25

We could have our friends round as they are in our bubble due to having a baby but I’m torn between doing this and not feeling like celebrating NY at all, when the start of it is going to be as shit as 2020. I’m struggling to find anything to celebrate

LegoPandemic · 27/12/2020 09:27

Open a bottle of something, have a takeaway and watch a good film. Like everyday over Christmas!

LegoPandemic · 27/12/2020 09:27

To add we haven’t had a daily takeaway but there has been daily wine

Skipsurvey · 27/12/2020 09:33

a takeaway sounds a great idea

Scottishskifun · 27/12/2020 09:33

We are have ordered a 3 course meal which you heat at home from a restaurant and are doing a zoom drinks from 10.30 with friends.

Unmute · 27/12/2020 09:39

We'll do what we do every year - eat our weight in cheese while watching Poirot.

the80sweregreat · 27/12/2020 09:49

@Remmy123

Celebrate what 😂
😀 Precisely! Next year will still be a challenge for many until the vaccines are rolled out. I'm tier 4 , so it's tv and some food and an early night here.
Lovemusic33 · 27/12/2020 09:52

Never really understood celebrating the new year but understand that people like too, when I was early 20’s I guess it was just another excuse to get drunk 🤔.

We won’t miss celebrating this year as we usually just stay home anyway. Me and DD’s will be having a little buffet at home, play a board game and probably watch all the rubbish on tv about what a crazy year it has been. There’s nothing to really celebrate this year other than the hope that we will see the end to this crazy time we are living in but realistically that may not happen for a while.

KatherineJaneway · 27/12/2020 09:58

will the tiers change again?

No, might get tighter but no mixing allowed unless it is in your Tier rules already that you can.

how will people celebrate?

Quietly at home I suspect. I'll be having a glass make that several to say goodbye to a truly shit year and hello to what I hope will be a much better year.

PoloNeckKnickers · 27/12/2020 09:59

@Unmute

We'll do what we do every year - eat our weight in cheese while watching Poirot.
Substitute chocolate fior cheese and that sounds like the best NYE ever.
Notonthestairs · 27/12/2020 10:11

I suppose some tiers might move up but nobody will be moved down.

My in-laws get their second jab in early Jan. I'm hoping my Dad will be contacted first his soon. There have been times this year when I thought I was unraveling. But we are still here, roof over our heads etc.

So I'm going to celebrate and be grateful - have a takeaway, let the kids stay up and try and please everyone by watching a Mission Impossible/Shaun the Sheep combo.

(I'll have had worse New Years eves to be honest).

n00b1 · 27/12/2020 10:24

We’re spending the evening with friends online gaming. Socialising without anyone mixing or leaving their own homes. Currently tier 3 but expecting to be 4 pretty soon, so we certainly aren’t planning on seeing anyone in the flesh outside of work.

ChristmasinJune · 27/12/2020 10:31

We're planning some family games that we can play via Zoom...... Pictionary and charades maybe?
I'll be on my own but I'm happy enough with this as I dislike NYE anyway Grin

Just hope there's something decent on telly!!

ConcernedAuntie · 27/12/2020 13:45

Will not, of course, be going anywhere. But, we will be celebrating the fact that all our family members are still here and healthy (despite 6 of them working in supermarkets throughout). Just celebrating that we have all got through this terrible year. Celebrating the work done by doctors and nurses, and the scientists who would seem to have worked out a way through this.

Still so much to be thankful for.

LegoPandemic · 27/12/2020 13:53

Actually we have tickets for a late afternoon drive in panto if it can go ahead. It’s very Covid secure as you don’t get out of the car. Then home for wine!
