Frequency of exposure checks on Android

I have the Protect Scotland app on Android. The app states that it can be closed and will keep working.

I opened the app to have a look just now out of interest and it immediately came up that it was doing an exposure check. I then had a look at the Exposure Checks log in Settings and that was the first check it's done since 16th December. On 12th December there are checks every two hours for most of the day, then there's one check on 16th and nothing again until today.

Does this seem like a problem, or is everyone's app doing the same thing?

I have some gaps too. Depends how often you've been out i suppose.

I don't think the checks are to do with going out though - this is it phoning home to check if any of the Bluetooth IDs I was close to recently have since tested positive. I definitely wasn't out in the middle of the night on 12th and have definitely left the house in the last 10 days!

I mean that the less you are out the fewer checks will be made as you won't be in contact with as many people.

I know the checks correspond to when people input their test results and then the app checks if you are a contact depending on proximity and length of time the phones were near each other.

Or i think that's how it works anyway

As far as I know, it is meant to 'phone home' regularly (multiple times a day) to check all bluetooth IDs within the relevant contact period for positive results. I can't think of any reason it would go ten full days without doing a single check, so either the log is wrong or it hasn't been doing the checks when it's meant to.

At one point mine had auto disabled for some unknown reason and I had to enable it again
