WWYD: Staying elsewhere whilst building work done

First two weeks of Jan we are having some work done to our house that as a minimum requires us to be out whilst they are doing it. We had planned to either stay at my Mum’s or be there in the day and go back to ours at night. We are both in tier 4, live a mile apart.

I can’t see anything in the rules about this, obviously they can’t legislate for every scenario. I can’t cancel the work as it is essential and there isn’t really any end in sight.

What should I do? Stick with original plan even though it’s breaking the rules?

Stick with the original plan.

Definitely stick with the plan. We are moving house soon and we need help (we have 2 under 5s). Whatever tier we may be in, family are helping.

Stick with the original plan. We lived with my parents during the first lockdown. Our major renovation work started one week before we went into lockdown. What was meant to be 3 months work turned into 5 months too, and we lived at my parents the entire time. You are allowed to live house, and this is just temporarily moving house.

Brilliant, thank you, I had thought that was the right thing to do but after a quick scroll through some of the threads on here I felt very out of step with everyone else’s opinions!
