Isolation question

I’ve been in isolation for the last week after being in contact with someone who has had a positive test. My children have pretty much been in isolation with me, they have left the house twice for about an hour at a time.
I felt rough a few days before Xmas eve and so did a test. I’m still waiting for my results, if I am positive do the kids need to isolate for 10 days? Advice seems to be to isolate for 10 days from the point of contact but obviously contact with me is continuous!

They would isolate for 10 days from the onset of your symptoms.

The full household must isolate. Hopefully you get a negative result. I did this week.

The whole household would only need to isolate if I was positive but I'm supposedly a contact. I've no problem with isolating if needs must but I'm querying whether I'm counting it correctly.
I make Monday just gone the first day but I was home all day. I went to the supermarket on the Sunday but didn't queue as I remarked on how quiet it was.

Just answered the wrong thread. Apologies

They have been isolating since I’ve felt ill, good to know it’s already started and they won’t have to miss any school!
