Length of self isolation

Someone in my household has received a notification to isolate for 13 days on the NHS app. Does anyone know why this would be - I thought the period had been reduced to 10 days? Has it changed again?

Have they updated the app? It should be 10 days not 14 now

Deffo ten days. It's all a bit of a mess isn't it?

Cuddling57 · 25/12/2020 09:27

It's two days! The school previously got my DS dates wrong! So annoying!

We've been isolating as DH tested positive, and our isolation ends today.

We had texts and emails from track and trace, all said 10 days (with the first day starting from zero).

Then we had an NHS text which said 14 days. We checked this with T&T when they called, and they confirmed that it is 10 days.

It's off and confusing and doesn't inspire confidence!

The time was supposed to get changed by an app update. Check whether yours has updated automatically or whether you need to update it yourself

He’s checked and the app is the latest version so I can only think it’s an error. Definitely doesn’t inspire confidence!

My DD app said the same, once she uninstalled app and then reinstalled it corrected the dates.
I think it also relies on the person they have been in contact with giving the correct dates.
It is def still 10 days from date of contact

Chaotic45 · 25/12/2020 10:16

@chocolatespiders that makes a sense to be fair you can't expect the app to make a change like that without updating it. Not that I'd have thought to keep mine updating.

I believe it is 10 days from date of contact, but that this ten days needs to start again if you household member develops symptoms or gets a positive test.

The app itself has lots of helpful info if you search about on it as does the gov.uk website. It can also generate a more formal stay at home notice I believe if needed for work etc..

I'm sorry that this has happened and hope it doesn't affect you all too much.

The app definitely does not rely on the person that they have been on contact with giving the correct dates. It is all automatic once the app has received notification that a user has tested positive....Hope that makes sense.

@chocolatespiders Thank you - deleting and reinstalling worked! Only 9 days now - slightly better at least even if it has disrupted our Christmas plans.

It has deleted my positive result now and won’t let me re add it
