Last March we were due to move as a family to Japan. In April they closed the borders and that was that - we've been waiting ever since.

Visas were approved in November and last week DH flew over to sort out our apartment. Our entire house contents went on a container ship last week too.

Me and 2yo DD have been staying with my mum and planned to fly today to join him, so we can quarantine in our own home rather than a hotel. I'm 20 weeks pregnant too and i was able to have my scan here for peace of mind before we left.

Except we haven't left. I got the news at 5am today while in a taxi to the airport that borders have closed to UK new residents (me and DD). We couldn't get on the plane.

I am devastated. So close, yet so far. We've waited so long for this, its been hell having my husband wfh on japanese time with a toddler to entertain. No family close by. The past 72 hours on tenterhooks waiting to see whether Japan would follow other countries and ban flights has been horrendous.

I am so drained. When will i see my husband again? If they take 6 months to open the borders again... i can't take it. I'm so angry this has happened.

Just had to vent. And if anyone has any wise words or indeed a crystal ball I'd appreciate it.
