DS is working in France for a year, we live in NI. He flew home via Dublin (drove down & collected him before latest restrictions) and due to return after Christmas same way, to go back to work. Now with no permitted air travel between U.K. & France or U.K. & Ireland, however afaik flights continue between Ireland & France. Also border open between NI & ROI. Can he travel down & fly back via Dublin even tho been in U.K.? (On Irish passport if that's relevant)?

If France are still allowing flights from Ireland then I can't see there would be a problem. Just check nearer the time as things are changing so quickly at the moment.

I know this isn't in the spirit of rule following, but I don't think they will have any way of knowing he's been in the UK. Theres on passport checks between ROI / NI, and if you drove he won't be on any passenger lists or anything.

True, but we don't want to find a loophole, just genuinely not sure if allowed (as for work & going out of ROI) the airline have home address (U.K.) so not sure if they will tell him he can't fly.... so many unknowns!!
