I don’t know how much longer I can put up with this.

I’ve been on maternity leave since March and I’m due back to work in 9 weeks time.

I just feel so down and miserable. It just doesn’t feel like this will ever end.

I don’t want to send DS to a nursery because of Covid and i don’t want to go back to work in the office.

I’m so so down and i honestly just don’t know how much more I can take 😭

I understand how you feel- I go back in two weeks! 😢 It’s very stressful isn’t it? Because my partner works in the music industry he still isn’t working so initially we’re not putting the baby into childcare which helps massively but I am a nurse so I’m quiet stressed about the implications of that. Is this your first baby? Just think in 9 weeks we’ll be that much nearer to spring- things hopefully will get a bit better then and lots more people will be vaccinated. Weather May be improving by then too!

I’m sorry you are down OP. I really feel for anybody with babies and toddlers during this pandemic. My only advice is to try to take one day at a time. Thinking too far ahead at the moment will possibly cause a lot of stress and anxiety, plus a vaccine is in sight. Yes we do have to social distance but keeping in touch is really important for our mental health. 💐

Sorry it’s so difficult.
Could you do a phased return?
I’ve just had someone in my team return from maternity leave abs they said they enjoyed talking to people/ change of environment.

I had a baby in March also, due back on 4th Jan 😩 But this bambino is my second, my elder DD has been back in nursery since June. So I have no issues putting DD2 in nursery thankfully. We’ve actually had covid this month. DD2 had it very mildly, nothing to worry about at all. She was pretty miserable for a couple days though!

Do you have to go back into the office? Most are WFH now surely?

I think you’ve got a huge mix of emotions going on here. I remember how emotional & worried & apprehensive I felt going back to work after DD1. It’s a big change & leaving your baby is a big deal. But it all quickly becomes the norm, I promise. You’ll enjoy some time to yourself to eat lunch in peace & drink a hot drink! And you’ll watch your little one thrive at nursery. And then you’ll really value your time together even more!

I’m feeling anxious about going back to work second time round but less so about the nursery/leaving DD2 thing but just remembering how to do my job & jumping back into my job in the middle of a pandemic. Managing a team remotely, picking up how everything has changed & is done differently now etc.. I’m really nervous! But it will be OK! And so will you. Sending a big hug & handhold!
