Cleaner mask

My cleaner comes twice a week and is very nice and reliable. Since COVID started I have asked her to wear a mask, she agreed but said something along the lines “we ll get it anyway”. Howver she still did not wear a mask. I am vulnerable and do not want to risk. I make sure I stay out of the way when she comes and leave the room/house and try to encourage my children to do the same. I was wondering if any one has similar experience with cleaners?

It's your home, your rules.
Tell her if she wants to work in your home she will need to respect that you want her to wear a mask.
Do you wear a mask also when she is at home? Or can you not due to being vulnerable?

You can't make someone wear a mask. Equally, you can stop using her.

I think I wore my mask around her when the COVID started and have not done so lately. It feels that if she is to wear a mask we should do the same?

I haven't had this experience, but it is your house and your rules. Even if you wear a mask she could still be infecting the surfaces in your home - right after cleanjng them, too. If she can't comply with your wishes and wear one given that it is your wish that she wear a mask in your home, especially given that you are vulnerable (though with it being your home it doesn't matter whether you're vulnerable or not), then I would be looking for a new cleaner!

Thank you DrWard, i feel like I should let her go if she does not comply. I want to make sure my demands are not unreasonable and the cleaners other people use wear masks..

Yes, and I was pregnant at the time so I cancelled her coming til after the baby was born. If you're vulnerable just cancel

Christ I would email her and tell her flat out that even more so now with the new strain and high figures it's ppe for her inside your home and you will either wear a mask or stay out of the way.

I wear a mask out of courtesy to others but a lot of people still think it's only to protect themselves even after 10 months of this shit storm Hmm

That would be my last option, as I hope there are cleaners out there who are happy to clean in masks? With kids and work it is just too difficult and having a cleaner is something that keeps me sane

This would be a non negotiable for me.
