University students in tier 4

Where university students have travelled home for Christmas to areas now in tier 4, do you think they will be able to return to uni in January? It’s just occurred to me that they probably shouldn’t as travel out of the area is banned but I’m not sure how universities will deal with this situation with some students there and some not.

Probably not until later in January. I think most will do a staggered return anyway? They're essentially locking T4 down so will review in a few weeks on case numbers. Hopefully they'll be down - but then again the last lockdown clearly didn't work.

I’m almost certain ‘universities’ don’t know yet. They don’t make the rules, they follow the guidance set by government and I expect the useless twats (govt, not unis!) haven’t issued that guidance yet.

You can travel out of tier 4 for education purposes. I’m sure they’ll be able to go back to uni unless a full lockdown is announced and universities told to close/go fully online.. universities are planning a staggered start and also asymptomatic testing to take place before face to face teaching resumes.

The universities will find out what's happening the day before the students are due to return. They won't be informed directly but will find out via last-minute guidance being reported in the media.

The universities are shut until the day the students come back. I am not looking at any emails until 9am on the Monday of the first day back. 😁
