So I am in tier 2 and had booked a night away to do a covid safe activity with my Dc (one child). I booked it when I thought we were allowed to travel in the (now mythical) 4 day window we were given.
I can't go now can I?
It was a Christmas present for DC and such a treat after they have missed so much this year. I get that we have had it easy and not lost a family member to the horrible virus (don't have any family).
I don't think I am allowed but wondered if it was pre-booked I could still go?
We aren't mixing with any other people or households.

Are you travelling through tiers?
Is the activity still open/going ahead?
How safe is it in terms of travelling, social distancing etc?

Coasterfan · 20/12/2020 12:46

I m sure you can travel and stay overnight in tier 2? I know loads if people who have been to Chessington and legoland for their Christmas events and stayed over in the last few weeks before they went to tier 4. Loads of people still going to the centre parcs villages still open for Xmas and new year as well. The Xmas rules have only been restricted to a day in terms of mixing households I m sure outside of Xmas day tier 2 rules still apply and you are fine. I will stand corrected if I m wrong though!!

If you aren't crossing tiers and the activity is still running and the accommodation / hotel is still open then surely that's ok?

rosie1959 · 20/12/2020 12:53

You can cross tiers as part of a long journey check it out on Gov.uk

BunsyGirl · 20/12/2020 12:55

You have always been able to travel and stay overnight in tier 2. Has nothing to do with the Christmas bubbles. I had two nights booked for London next week but this was cancelled when it went into tier 3. However, I am allowed to go to another tier 2 area because I am in tier 2.

Hairyhat · 20/12/2020 13:04

Thanks all. I think the activity is now in tier 3. I thought we weren't allowed to travel full stop?

It's advisable not to travel, but you are allowed.

You won't be able to stay over in Tier 3.

Thanks all
