Are schools in Tier 4 likely to go back In January?

Early days I know, but I’m wondering if the virus is that bad in London and the South East, hence they’ve had to create Tier 4 - whether schools might not go back in January and kids will have to do home learning?

They'll decide nearer the time, depending on how rates move in the next couple of weeks.

They've already said a staggered start is possible, so first week/s of term might be online learning (on-site only for key worker families, the socially vulnerable and those without tech)

Atm yes. Then by February they'll be wondering why we need a tier 5.

Teaching unions need to stop blocking zoom lessons.

My dd’s (secondary) school is in tier 4. I bloody hope she’s back in January - there were 3 positive cases in the whole school between September and December. That’s it. There is no justification for closing it entirely.

Dd has an exam the second week of January but apparently only year 11 and 13 are exam years. according the Govt.
So her year have been shat on again. Year 12

Unless things improve in my daughter's (year 8) school she won't be able to.
For the past 3 weeks they've struggled to have enough staff and even when they did at one point there was only 2 years left in school.
Its ripped through her school like wild fire.

I'm in South Wales though, where its been particularly bad.

Shouldn’t have thought so. Preston shared a leak that the increased transmissibility for the new strain is among children. I think schools will close in at least tier 4, probably wider.

We are tier 4 and my DC’s school shut on Monday because they didn’t have enough staff and a huge amount of kids tested positive. I really hope they only open for DC that need to go in. I wish they’d let us choose again. I’d definitely keep mine home and do the online work.
