Driving on m25

I'm assuming you can still travel through tier 4 areas? Just not visit there?

I wouldn’t assume anything. The Met could be just round the next corner with a “stinger” and some awkward questions about where you’re going.

Nonamesavail · 19/12/2020 22:05

We have a contact order with my ex who is one end of the m25 and we are the other lol I guess we have a reason ... though how on earth would they check everyone?

@Nonamesavail they can use ANPR cameras to check who is travelling. Tour numberplate will tell the Police where the car is registered, so if your address is in a tier 2 but you are in tier 4 they would know. Yorkshire police did exactly this over the summer. I'm not saying they will but they could.

FeelingBIue · 19/12/2020 22:26

I'd keep a copy of the order with you in the car in case you're stopped.

As I said on another thread, I was stopped after attending my Aunt's funeral back in April. Police were stopping all cars with plates registered outside the county. Quizzed for 5 minutes about where i'd been and why. Had to give details of crematorium, name, time, etc. They were very firm, polite and sorry for my loss.

Yes - this is in the guidance under the Tier 1 sections:

You can travel through a Tier 3 or Tier 4 area as part of a longer journey.

And in the Tier 3 restrictions:

Where necessary, you can travel through other areas as part of a longer journey.

Nonamesavail · 19/12/2020 22:44

Thank you
Frustrating that I can't see my parents but I can see my ex lol but there you go. Just want to make sure we keep up with the new restrictions and law. I find it so so confusing.

Myself and my ex are both tier 2 areas currently.

Yorkshire must have really low crime rates if they can spare the manpower for this kind of nonsense

Nonamesavail · 20/12/2020 09:46

I'm travelling this morning over the m25. I have my paperwork but I have asd and being stopped might send me into a panic. Are they likely to be stopping all cars?

OP posts:
HoollyWugger · 20/12/2020 09:48

I very much doubt it, OP. You'll be fine.

HoollyWugger · 20/12/2020 09:49

You could maybe write down al the relevant info/reasons for travel, and an quick explanation that you have asd and may panic - have the sheet of paper on the passenger seat to hand to them.

They have lots of lovely places in Yorkshire that were invaded by people from way outside the county and locals were plagued by anti social behaviour and potential infection during the first lockdown. This might have been the reason.

Thank you. I'm sure it will be ok. Just worked myself up with reading different thingsBlush

The worse thing about them stopping cars is making you talk and it's through talking the virus is spread, unless both parties are in visors with masks.. It would be unsafe.

Nonamesavail · 20/12/2020 09:53

Thats true. I won't be stopping overnight. I'm just driving from Chelmsford to Fleet then back again!

OP posts:
Nonamesavail · 20/12/2020 09:54

I don't live in Chelmsford, just that junction is the start of tier 4 I think.

OP posts:
Nonamesavail · 20/12/2020 13:37

Well drive down was fine. Roads quietest I've seen!
