Yes I left it to the last minute. Amazon out of stock. Found the perfect present in Argos, paid for it to pick up tomorrow.

Will it still open? Nothing on their website/ Twitter / fb

It's not an Argos in Sainsbury's Confused

Call the store and see if they are staying open late tonight.

Mamamia456 · 19/12/2020 20:39

They will be shut from tomorrow.

Crunchymum · 19/12/2020 20:42

I did the same with Boots.

Assume they'll be open though?

jimmyhill · 19/12/2020 20:45

Shops in Tier 4 can continue with click and collect. But you're only supposed to get essential things. So probably depends whether you regards presents as essential or can persuade Dixon of Dock Green that presents are essential.

shivermetimbers77 · 19/12/2020 20:45

I thought Argos was open for click and collect only during lockdown ... worth checking the website though

secretlyhappy · 19/12/2020 20:50

I think the Argos in Sainsbury's were open during last lockdown.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/12/2020 20:51

Our Argos in Nov you ordered and paid online and collected at the door.

What kind of government tells people they can only buy essential items a week before Christmas?

One that is trying to control a pandemic, (however vainly). The pandemic doesn't give a toss that it's Christmas.

Thanks all - I'll try tomorrow and report back

I don’t think there’s anything about only being able to buy “essentials”. It’s the retailer that’s considered essential not the goods it sells. In fact I can’t believe so many months in that this is even being raised.

So anyone can buy anything from any shop that remains open in whatever format it remains open.

Please, not that again. If a shop sell it you can buy it, no one has said you can only buy essentials, which are subjective anyway.
BathshebaWasOnTheRoof · 19/12/2020 21:33

OP, here are the details. Under the business and venue section it says non-essential retail can operate click and collect if goods can be collected outside the premises. So it sounds like the November lockdown.

I’ve also ordered from Argos and know mine was open last lockdown in Sainsbury’s.
I’d argue that nothing Argos sells is essential... not food or medication.

faysieb · 19/12/2020 21:38

You can order through Argos and collect In bigger Sainsbury's

But that doesn't matter! They can't open but they can still trade if they have click and collect or deliver so what's the problem?
McFarts · 19/12/2020 21:40

We got a few things click and collect from argos during November lockdown, non essential items. Just collected from the door. Hope you get what you need OP.
