Crossing the Scottish border tomorrow

I was due to take my kids from Scotland to England tomorrow to see their father. Am I right in thinking this is still essential travel and I’ll be able to carry on if stopped? I’d really rather not be fined but the children still need to see their father. I don’t know how I would prove it if stopped because we have no court order or anything like that, it’s all just informal arrangements.

Thanks

Not only does that probably qualify as essential travel (at least in the first lockdown it was permitted) but pragmatically, Scotland will not have any way of stopping you this early in the process. It might be harder in a week. You do have to consider them getting back, but that's also permissible: you're allowed to go home to your usual residence even if an adult.
