London "tier 4" and bubbles

So with all the speculation, it looks fairly likely that where my elderly dad lives will be in tier 4.

He lives alone and is in our bubble.

We are 120 miles away, Dh is due to go and pick him up to come and stay on 22nd.

This would still be allowed, right? As he's a single person.

He's very, very difficult and as much as I'd love a break from him for one year (he makes
Christmas a miserable experience), my life wouldn't be worth living if we said he couldn't come.

As planned I got my disabled mum today in London from 70 miles away. I am her main carer she had to live with us for 6 months during the last lockdown.

I think they will have to make exceptions to carers because otherwise social services are going to melt under the strain of old people left alone!

Covidnomore · 19/12/2020 15:44

I would say it was essential support. So no way should it not be allowed.

MoiraNotRuby · 19/12/2020 15:46

I agree with the advice to send a pre emptive text, then hide your phone for a while. Hope it works out OK for you.

Sleepyblueocean · 19/12/2020 15:46

There have always been exceptions for providing care and support. I am sure that will not change.

cardibach · 19/12/2020 15:52

The Alert Level 4 in Wales allows for support bubbles. That doesn’t guarantee anything, but is maybe an indication.

Facelikearustytractor · 19/12/2020 15:55

Does anyone else think compliance is going to be really shit. So many people have planned for Christmas and have gone out and already bought stuff to host, got their hopes up of seeing family. I think it would be pointless as many would not comply.

WankPuffins · 19/12/2020 16:18

Well he's just said no travel outside tries BUT support bubbles can remain in place for those extremist at risk from loneliness or isolation.

So we can go and pick him up and take him home after a few days.

Flowers for you my disabled mum is a difficult situ so is ending some solidarity!
WankPuffins · 19/12/2020 16:24

He's been threatening suicide for years but I think he actually would have done it this time.

I would collect him if I was in your position OP Flowers

He’s said all bubbles defined in law remain, so that includes single adult ones
