We've been thrown under the bus up here for the best part of a bloody year, businesses going bust left, right and centre, and no one has given a shiny shit!

Yes. 100% this.

Lardlizard · 19/12/2020 14:40

At least let us have xmas day and Boxing Day

midscram · 19/12/2020 14:40

FFS WHY did the idiot PM ever promise a normal Christmas?

Likely to give hope & to boost the economy by encouraging spending on presents & food. The public have been spending tbf.

Chloemol · 19/12/2020 14:41

Lockdown from the 28 th

Iamthewombat · 19/12/2020 14:41

So Boris Bingo for the press conference. High likelihood of the following:

"Alas..."
"Folks"
"...with a heavy heart..."

You forgot “search for the hero inside yourself”.

I’d have a punt on a reference to A Christmas Carol as well. Each way bet on a quote from Tiny Tim.

How about be good for goodness’ sake? I should be writing his speeches for him.

MarshaBradyo · 19/12/2020 14:41

Yes Europe is in the shit too. There’s not much in it.

Still not welcoming Tier bloody 4

nosswith · 19/12/2020 14:41

@donquixotedelamancha only seven points- what are the others?

Lifeispassingby · 19/12/2020 14:42

Let’s face it the government are screened either way here. If they increase xmas restrictions in response to an every changing situation they will be hated by some, if they do nothing and there is a surge in infections leading to more hospital problems or another lockdown then they will asked why they did nothing. If it is recommended that people don’t mix then why would people ignore that? Because they can’t bear to spend Xmas with just those they live with? It’s one day FFS, those who live in single households can mix so no one has to be alone. The main worry in our house is whether we can travel from the SE to the NE on 23rd for my Fil funeral on xmas eve

Wrecktal · 19/12/2020 14:42

What is the solution? What should we be doing? To those who sat to ‘fuck the rules’ - what is the answer?

Unsure33 · 19/12/2020 14:42

If your children spoke like a lot of you do they would be accused of bullying. Some of you are sanctimonious hypocrites.

Not what I expected from mumsnet.

Thewiseoneincognito · 19/12/2020 14:42

Discreetly putting this here....

IMAGINE THE CLUSTERFUCK IF CORBYN HAD GOT IN

🤣😆🤣😂🤣😆🤣😂🤣😆🤣😂

I think we got the best of a horrific bunch.

Lifeispassingby · 19/12/2020 14:43

Boris isn’t going to be liked if he cancels the Christmas bubbles in London and the SE.

He's as liked about as much as the poets at the annual Vogon arts festival. Maybe not quite as much.

hepatocyte · 19/12/2020 14:43

@Frostythesnowwoman

Rumour on political twitter (tweet seems legit although questions have been raised):

BREAKING: Christmas cancelled for London, South East and East, as areas moved into new Tier 4 with “stay at home” message by law. Christmas bubbles only allowed for Tiers 1 - 3 on Xmas Day with “stay local message”. International travel not advised. Latest plan.
@cazjwheeler

Unclear whether all of East/South East will be in Tier 4, and whether this effectively cancels Xmas travel for everyone else...

This is from a fake account - it's not been tweeted from @cazjwheeler, just has her name in the tweet.

Here's the link to the account tweeting it: twitter.com/Carolin64723572

Doesn't look legit to me!

snowballer · 19/12/2020 14:43

@nosswith

Sadly we would as a country have been better off if Boris Johnson had died of the virus, not that I want or wanted anyone to die from it.
This is pretty strong - I'm not sure I would wish death on him.

However, there is a genuine concern that he's never properly recovered, and that without a significant period of time to recuperate, he's been struggling ever since. He really should have been out of action for longer than he was. I do often wonder whether he's physically and mentally fit enough for the job at the moment.

Lurkingforawhile · 19/12/2020 14:43

In amongst the various news feeds about potential tier 4 , I did see that they're expecting Oxford vaccine approval on 28 or 29 Dec. Just thought I'd share some good news.

treening · 19/12/2020 14:44

I'll be seeing my mum and sister regardless. We are all in London and we've all been isolating for 2 weeks to be able to do this.

bettxmascake · 19/12/2020 14:44

@Lardlizard

Sure, after all Covid has agreed to be a good little boy and not spread on those two days.
maddiemookins16mum · 19/12/2020 14:44

@tootyfruitypickle

He’s got to cancel the bubble idea. It’s madness.
Yep. Especially those who can’t figure out how it works (yes colleague you, it doesn’t mean visiting 4 different households over 5 days with several differing households each day).
Wrecktal · 19/12/2020 14:44

Like I said earlier - we are at the mercy of a virus that is unpredictable and mutating. If we start saying fuck the rules, and live the sociable life that we want to live - the virus will be very very happy.

Above from The Times, deputy political leader

0htooooodles · 19/12/2020 14:45

FFS. I need to buy a turkey now.

hepatocyte · 19/12/2020 14:45

@SpringerJS

Caroline Wheeler tweeting that London,SE and E will have ‘Christmas cancelled with stay at home message by law’, and Christmas bubbles for Tiers 1-3 only allowed for Xmas Day itself.
It's not from her account! AGH we all need to try and stamp out fake news before it spreads..;.
HmmSureJan · 19/12/2020 14:45

When will this take effect? I have a parcel to post and shopping to do!
