Without sounding too vain or selfish, I'm in London and due to have my hair cut Monday afternoon after having it cancelled for various reasons a few times this year - I look like a sodding cocker spaniel - so I am bloody well hoping it can happen!

No way will he want to be known as the pm that cancelled Xmas. He'll announce further restrictions for Jan and possibly more into tier 3 but it won't be Xmas bubble cancelled. Think of the front page pics of him as the Grinch and Scrooge, he's far too concerned about his popularity to let that happen.

I am thinking that people who have had "old" covid are getting this new one I.e. getting covid twice

It will be:- ban on travel from Tier 3 areas into others, request not to mix at Christmas, new lockdown starting on 29th December for 3 weeks, more doom and gloom re mutation, update on vaccines.

At this point I’m thinking he won’t want to carry on as PM for too much longer. It must be absolute hell.

I am just ignoring the rules, so it won’t make much difference for me.

If Boris cancels travelling at Christmas he can come round to my house and deal with my DD. I have already had her in tears because she thought she would not be able to go to my Dsis for Christmas.

She has SN and has lost both grandparents and her Dad in the last year. I fucking hate Boris. If he had decided to ban Christmas visits then this should already have been done.

I thought I'd been coping quite well with having been in Tier 3 for ever but over the last few days all this Christmas crap has started to make me feel really down. What is the point of anything ? We'll travel to see my sister and her family. We won't stop on the way and we won't see anyone else while we're there.

I need some adult conversation, I need to feel that there is something to look forward to. I am sick of all this gloom and doom and all these self-righteous people who will be spending a quiet Christmas with their lovely little families telling me to suck it up.

Even the vaccine sounds like it is going to be a cock up so life will not go back to anything like normal for a very long time. There is bound to be another lock down after Christmas.

I know I'll get told I'm being selfish but you know what I don't really care any more.

NS is holding a Scottish cabinet meeting this afternoon after a 4 nations discussion earlier today.

I think it'll be lockdown from 28th, with ban on inter-regional travel

I think they will cut it from 5 days, to just xmas and Boxing day for the 3 households

No travelling in and out of the SE seems possible, stop the underground, railways, and close the motorways, that would stop everybody except the completely idiotic from going anywhere.

they cant just ban tier 3 from travelling at xmas surely-that will divide everyone

so some can have their family over for xmas some cant

If they're banning travel it needs to be law and not just guidance, or people who have booked cottages etc for Christmas won't get their money back and will just go anyway.
