I almost can’t stand it. What the hell will they be announcing now?

I say tier 2, we were before so maybe 3 now but not 4

AcornAutumn · 19/12/2020 16:37

@Arboria

16 people in three households?

Chinny reckon.

Just yesterday I was on a thread with a poster casually announcing her sixth child was on the way.
NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/12/2020 16:37

Tier 4 is meet no other family (unless you're in an established bubble) at all even on Christmas Day. Other Tiers just to meet other bubbles on Chrismtas Day, not the others originally in the 'window'.

To the previous poster who was talking about her DSis being alone, she can be in a bubble with one other bubble to avoid isolation and mental health issues. That is allowed.

heydoggee · 19/12/2020 16:38

@Diddlysquatty

So..... if we and the other 2 households we were planning to get together with are all tier 2, do we think we’re still allowed to meet? (Obviously separate question as to whether we still decide to)
No you're not, he was very clear about that
tinseltamer · 19/12/2020 16:38

Areas now in Tier 4.

So I'm trying to figure out, I'm in NI and supposed to be flying with my partner and baby to my mum and dad's between 24th and 28th Dec. Does this mean now that I can't go?
I understand the urgency of needing something but my mum and dad were alone last year and can't bear the thought of them being alone again this year, my baby brother died on xmas eve and its just so important for out mental health to be together this year. I'm devastated 💔

Zofloramummy · 19/12/2020 16:38

I’m a single parent, had already planned to spend Xmas at home. But I was planning on going to see my parents on Boxing Day for a few hours so they could see dd. We have been isolating since school closed and Boxing Day would be day 16 to avoid the chances of either of us (I work in a school) being infectious. We can’t go now can we Sad

catpoooffender · 19/12/2020 16:38

@Bumpsadaisie

He said those places in London and the south east which moved into tier 3 earlier this week are now moving to tier 4.

Places that were in tier 3 already - eg Lancs Manchester west and south Yorkshire, north east - all stay as is in tier 3.

No Xmas gathering in tier 4.

Tiers 1-3 Xmas gathering with one other house only (not 2) and only on Xmas day itself.

He didn't say the number of households mixing on Christmas Day would be reduced to two.
Yuppie20 · 19/12/2020 16:39

*They are now in tier 4

PimlicoJo · 19/12/2020 16:39

I'm in London. I haven't known anyone who has had covid since Spring. Today I've heard of 5 different people who have tested positive in the last couple of days, and another few who are isolating. I'm disappointed that my plans have to change but this is the right thing to do.

lcdododo · 19/12/2020 16:39

Surely you're not that stupid?
Diddlysquatty · 19/12/2020 16:39

@heydoggee thank you, I missed the beginning

Chaotic45 · 19/12/2020 16:39

@catpoooffender I'm pretty sure that he did.

Maze76 · 19/12/2020 16:40

AreYOU being serious?...

DollyParton2 · 19/12/2020 16:40

Zofloramummy you CAN still go yes. Just weigh up the risks ie. chance (relatively low) of getting caught etc

catpoooffender · 19/12/2020 16:40

If you're tier 2 you can still meet two other households on Christmas Day.

SaxonWassail · 19/12/2020 16:40

I think I have the hots for Chris Witty.

Other than that - it's all a bit of a bugger.

BethlehemIsInTier1 · 19/12/2020 16:40

@lynsey91

Well if Boris has any guts he will be cancelling Christmas and putting the whole country back into complete lockdown.

Yes I know it will mean the end of lots of shops, restaurants etc but it is the sensible thing to do.

It's a joke telling people that suddenly at Christmas they can mix with others, presumably sit close together at the dinner table etc.

Of course even if he does have the guts to cancel so so many idiots will ignore him. You only have to read some of the posts here to know that.

My bloody neighbours have never obeyed the rules even back in March. We are in tier 3 which means NO visitors in the house. The neighbour one side has had at least FIVE different visitors in the last 2 weeks (probably more that I don't know about). What makes it even worse is she works in a care home. Utterly stupid and utterly selfish

And? Curtain twitcher snitch Hmm
NoGoodPunsLeft · 19/12/2020 16:40

@Belepheron

Tier 4 is only meet one other family for Xmas day, no?
No, no other households
Lougle · 19/12/2020 16:40

I thought the existing 3 household bubble was allowed on Xmas day only, except tier 4.

Diddlysquatty · 19/12/2020 16:40

@lcdododo ouch!

chomalungma · 19/12/2020 16:40

He didn't say the number of households mixing on Christmas Day would be reduced to two

I think he did?

How are the 5 people doing, health wise?
catpoooffender · 19/12/2020 16:40
@catpoooffender I'm pretty sure that he did.
I was listening very closely because this is my plan and I didn't hear that.
