I almost can’t stand it. What the hell will they be announcing now?

@Puzzledandpissedoff 🤣🤣. Exactly, let's just play along shall we.

Kaliorphic · 19/12/2020 15:57

She has SN and has lost both grandparents and her Dad in the last year. I fucking hate Boris. If he had decided to ban Christmas visits then this should already have been done

@JacobReesMogadishu

I don’t think he can just put London and the south east into tier 4 . If this new variant is there it’s already spread further north and I’m sure that will become apparent in the next few days.

He needs to take advantage of the schools being closed and do another lock down.

It’s already been detected in Glasgow so I imagine it’s pretty much everywhere in between already.

How can that bbc bloke say we still have surge capacity with the nightingale hospitals....hasn’t he realised they have no staff!

Maybe now that we’ve vaccinated HCPs there won’t be such a shortage of staff due to having to isolate.

We haven’t vaccinated HCPs, I’m one(frontline) and none of us have been done. The organisation of the vaccine programme is a shambles.

Very few HCPs have been vaccinated though. And even still, if vaccinated HCPs fall ill with covid symptoms, they still have to isolate.

@SophieB100

Sturgeon holding a press conference at 5.25 today, for those of you North of the border!
Love how it was “we’re going to have a single approach for the UK” all this time and the second something goes wrong “f**k it, we’re all holding our own bloody press conferences” haha
Wrecktal · 19/12/2020 16:02

Can I wave a slightly nervous hand and say - actually I think Boris is a pretty good leader? The tier system at least allows some freedom. I do think Labour would have just a full lockdown. And earlier. ‘Bumbling’ may actually equate to considering both sides of an argument?

BethlehemIsInTier1 · 19/12/2020 16:03

@Unsure33

If your children spoke like a lot of you do they would be accused of bullying. Some of you are sanctimonious hypocrites.

Not what I expected from mumsnet.

Alright Carrie Wink
Figgygal · 19/12/2020 16:04

BJ is a flip flopping failure
What a bloody mess of it he’s making

I have no idea how he thinks he can enforce locking down the capital and large parts of the south-east unless he brings the army in however nothing would surprise me this year at this point

Grin wow
Horehound · 19/12/2020 16:04

So they got everyone to comply with the rules to allow us to see our families for Xmas then just as that is about to come into play, they take it away.

I'm getting seriously pissed off with this now.

I may not agree, but I gotta admire your balls Grin
Frostythesnowwoman · 19/12/2020 16:04

Very grim tone on bbc lead up

Think they expect wide restrictions

Whatwouldscullydo · 19/12/2020 16:05

Do we refuse life-saving treatments to people who might have lung cancer from smoking or alcohol-related illness ? Ermm no and rightly so. Saying people should be refused Covid treatment because they want to see their family after months ?!

Actually listen to yourself, you sound sick in the head

Agreed

I fear what its turned people into more than I fear covid tbh

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 19/12/2020 16:05

The problem is that it only takes a few families being selfish to make it worse for everyone! I am prepared to potentially only mix with one bubble outside, or not at all if required. We have followed all the rules and will continue to do what's required.

We are grown-ups, not children. Now is the time to act like it collectively!

That's because the majority at the BBC live in London...
Frostythesnowwoman · 19/12/2020 16:05

Not leaking further but preparing us for ‘much bleaker picture’ Sad

It takes at least 5 weeks from the first vaccine until immunity is acquired.
stovetopespresso · 19/12/2020 16:06

@Wrecktal I know hindsight is a great thing and its a pandemic, but no I cant agree in the round including brexit that he's been a good leader, no.

Brave.

But I agree with you.

Whatishappenin · 19/12/2020 16:07

She’s a nurse so had proper testing in hospital. She wasn’t very ill the first time and isn’t really this second time. She is very tired - that is her main symptom. The first time she had a temperature and lost all sense of taste and smell.

I must ask the traditional MN question here.

Are you on glue?

Wrecktal · 19/12/2020 16:07

I’m also really, really, really embarrassed to say that I had a naughty dream about Boris...and it was good.

cologne4711 · 19/12/2020 16:07

Oh what a surprise the press conference has been delayed. Is Boris still in bed?
