DD (16) has to self isolate - how does it look?

If your dc have had to self isolate, how strict are you? Do they stay in their room all the time and do you leave meals at the door, or do they come downstairs but you all distance, she has separate bathroom, you clean more, ventilate house, etc.?

DD is distraught at being told on the last day of term that she has to SI...

What a PITA.

My head is spinning. I can't plan Xmas if I don't know if dd has Covid or not. If she does, we all have to self isolate for 10 days and we don't have enough food in for that long. And I'm scared. I'm scared of her getting it badly, of me getting it. I'm just scared. I'm scared of the schools going back too - I don't want the dc to go back.

And I'm phobic about sick and I don't want any of us to throw up with Covid.

Help!! Talk some sense into me.

Good morning @tenlittlecygnets how are you feeling today?

Abraxan · 22/12/2020 10:42

WheN I got home from hospital after being in with covid I initially SI in my room, though mainly as feeling so ill still. But dh still slept in the same bed and used the same bathroom. He figured he'd shared our bed before we knew anyway. It was his choice. After a day or two I sat at the table and ate with dh and teen dd, and in the same room to watch TV afterwards. I encouraged dd to stay at the other side of the room, but I can't say she was isolated from me.

Both remained symptom free throughout. Neither have had a negative result before or afterwards.

Thanks, @Inpersuitofhappiness. Better today. I think I just got worked up and stressed at the prospect of Covid being in the house over Christmas and everything being shit. I know people have it much worse, I know they do.

@tenlittlecygnets

So fucking cross. The girl who sits beside dd came in to school Monday and Tuesday when all the rest of her family had fucking symptoms. I'm absolutely furious. The guidelines are clear.

She didn't have symptoms herself - does that mean she had a lighter viral load than the rest of her family? DD is having a Covid test today as she has a headache.

Jeez I'd be flipping furious too!
