Itchy feeling in throat

Morning all,

Would you isolate/test for this?

On Wednesday I had a sore throat and headache that lasted most of the day. Yesterday no longer sore but the back of my throat felt quite tickly/itchy in a way where a brief cough/throat clear would probably make it feel better but I didn't feel an irrepressible need to cough, if you see what I mean.

Same again today - itchy throat and headache. I guess I would have to put it down as a cough to get a test, even though it's definitely not continuous and I'm not sure I could even say I've had any "episodes" of coughing? Probably still err on the side of caution though I guess? Thank you 😊

I got a test with similar symptoms but only because my son had tested positive a few days prior. Mine started with a tickle in the throat and an ever so slight cough.
I would test. I never really got a continuous cough. Its remained very mild. I didnt have a temperature or loss of smell and taste until 5 days after testing positive.

Yes! Throat was dry and itchy. We all had very bad headaches which is a very common symptom apparently but not in the list for a test Confused

Thank you both! It seems quite unlikely because we've only been out for a couple of quick food shops in the last week or so, but still probably worth erring on the side of caution. Just tried to order one but none available. DP not super keen about driving to a test centre as he's concerned you're more likely to catch it there! I guess isolate for now and keep retrying the website. I'm not sure when it updates with home test availability?

This is what I have had this week

Didn’t bother with a test

I've had a sore throat/headache on about 5 occasions since March. It passes in a couple of days. I've never bothered to test for it

Much better to do the drive through test if you can - results are quicker. You don’t get out of your car - windows are up all the time except twice and it’s only down an inch each time. 1st when they drop the test kit into the car and 2nd time when you drop the test kit into a storage bin.

Thanks, all! That's interesting @ittakes2 - I didn't realise you still administered it yourself at the drive through. That might reassure DP a bit more!

The drive through near us do the tests for you on adults.

I've had this on and off since April this year and I've put it down to wearing masks. Plus even more so now with radiators on as they always make my throat dry and scratchy. Haven't bothered with a test.

I’ve had a tickly throat just like this a few times since March and even tested a couple of times. The difference last week was that I lost my taste and smell and unsurprisingly tested positive. But the cough is so slight merely a tickle as you say. I’d say worth testing.
