Tier 3 Question - Accommodation

KristaK · 17/12/2020 14:48

Hello

Is self catering accommodation allowed to operate in Tier 3? We are Tier 3 and the accommodation is in (a different) Tier 3. It's for a single household but outside the Christmas Bubble period. I just want to know if I need to sort out a refund. Cottages.com are inundated and I can't get through, but thought someone would know!?
Thank you in advance for your help

Watching with interest. One household in tier3 hoping to SC holiday from the 27th. I’m expecting the company to cancel...

No, they can’t operate in tier 3 I think, it says air bnbs would close.

Tier 3 rules:

accommodation such as hotels, B&Bs, campsites, and guest houses must close. There are several exemptions, such as for those who use these venues as their main residence, and those requiring the venues where it is reasonably necessary for work or education and training

avoid travelling outside of your area, including for overnight stays other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities. You can travel through other areas as part of a longer journey

I would think that refund/cancellation wouldn't be automatic though, as any given SC accommodation booking might have been arranged for an allowable exception (work, education etc or to allow someone to attend a funeral) so the accommodation provider and customer will need to communicate with each other to establish whether the booking can go ahead and the terms and conditions of the booking should cover whether a refund is due.
