Anyone know? All I can find is Matt Hancock to announce 'later'.

Disappointed in the Midlands too Sad

LadyCatStark · 17/12/2020 11:59

Sick to absolute death of being told that if we follow the rules we’ll get to move down into tier 2z THIS IS A LIE. We have no control over what happens in south and east Lancashire. What can we possibly do? This is even more frustrating than just being told that we’re staying in tier 3 because it’s so patronising.

RedToothBrush · 17/12/2020 12:01

@Gobacktothe90s

This is bullshit. One of areas announced drooping to tier 2 has higher case rates than several Manchester boroughs!
Honestly I'd have said the same thing a couple of days ago, but looking closely at Trafford it doesn't look great. There seems to be a number of big new clusters and the numbers are going up again. I expect them to start skyrocketing again in the next week or so BEFORE Christmas. Likewise there is a similar pattern in Warrington and parts of the Liverpool City Region who were moved into T2 (hint - thats not going to last long and they will be returning to T3 soon). And Tameside despite having good numbers asked to stay in T3.

So yeah overall, I do think that given the very latest numbers ahead of Christmas, it was the right decision. Unfortunately. And I say that with a heavy heart.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 17/12/2020 12:05

As so much of the South East is tier 3 now the IOWers are going to have to barricade the ferry ports to stop everyone coming over to the pub!

CovidCanDoOne · 17/12/2020 12:06

Gone up to tier 3 - gutted

cathyandclare · 17/12/2020 12:06

North Somerset's figures are rising too (129/100000), but they still go into Tier 2. So frustrating. Our local figures are in the seventies per 100,000- but in Leeds (138/100000 and still falling but pretty steady now) so stuck in Tier 3 forever.

PurpleDaisies · 17/12/2020 12:08

North Somerset’s cases are not rising according to the Zoe app. They’ve come down massively.

Doihaff2 · 17/12/2020 12:09

Tier 2 still here

cathyandclare · 17/12/2020 12:10

I used the actual tests not the ZOE app.

Feels very much like 'we can't cancel Christmas, can't do national lock down so we just stick most of the country into tier 3 instead'

Tier system is not working

SueEllenMishke · 17/12/2020 12:16

I'm gutted.
Still in tier 3 despite numbers plummeting and actually being incredibly low in my immediate area throughout.

I'm fucking furious on behalf of all my friends who work in hospitality and entertainment.

Lockdowns down work either. Look at Wales

haha so true!

Little point tbh of just tier 3'ing Portsmouth, Havant and Gosport as everyone will just hotfoot it to IOW or Chichester. Not that they should have raised these up too, but how do these tiers control anything exactly?

kittensarecute · 17/12/2020 12:21

We're staying put in tier 2. Not surprised but a bit disappointed.

TicTacTwo · 17/12/2020 12:24

Moved into T3 but that's not a surprise since numbers have increased massively since early November and the local hospital is very busy again.

I'm not surprised that nowhere has moved down. People would be pissed off to be moved down then back up again. I take it as a sign that they know that Xmas bubbles is going to cause cases to rise again Angry

If they didn't split London then I'm not surprised that other places like Greater Manchester weren't split too.

Kazmerelda · 17/12/2020 12:24

@DuncinToffee yeah I said they would slap as many as they can in tier 3 since another lockdown would break people.

PurpleDaisies · 17/12/2020 12:25

Bristol, North Somerset and Herefordshire have been moved down.

Lissy23 · 17/12/2020 12:25

I honestly thought here in West Yorkshire we’d go into a tier 2. Really disappointing

So they have. Apologies
NettleTea · 17/12/2020 12:28

Bollocks. Im in Rother. And today I have to isolate anyway because my lovely friend I saw at the weekend (outdoors, but over 15 mins) has tested positive today.

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 17/12/2020 12:31

Cases fallen massively in WY and still in tier 3, where we seem to have been almost all year.

I suspect compliance will go out of the window - there's only so much people can take, especially when case numbers are much lower than other areas that are in tier 2.

Delatron · 17/12/2020 12:32

I thought West Yorkshire would drop too. I’m in Bucks but family up there. Furious on behalf of the North!

speakout · 17/12/2020 12:32

I am sick of it all.

I live in an area that has been on tier 3 for 11 weeks, and covid numbers here have gone up by 50% in the past 7 days.

It isn't working.

Delatron · 17/12/2020 12:33

People will just start mixing indoors more and I don’t blame them. They should open restaurants and pubs at least then people are supervised and there are some virus control measures in place.

Broceliande · 17/12/2020 12:34

West Yorkshire is below the national average and has for some time now been well below the area of London where my in-laws live. Our cases have been steadily falling while theirs rise Angry

Where is this BBC news story about hospitals being less busy than the same time last year? Surely that can't be right. It would be such a headfuck if it was true!
