Waiting on results how long?

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 09:30

How long have people waited recently for home test results? I posted mine on Monday and am still waiting. Getting worried now as tomorrow would be my last day to retest and we are due to see family for Christmas. We have been isolating ready to see them. I only have very mild potential symptoms but need to be sure it’s not Covid before seeing my parents as although I’d be out of isolation I need to be certain it hasn’t been passed onto anyone else in my family who could carry it asymptomatically and pass it on to
my parents.

I’m also waiting on results - East London. Took a walk in test Tuesday morning 8am and still no results back.

MissSmiley · 17/12/2020 09:55

24hrs so far and haven't heard yet, tested at a drive in centre at 9.30am yesterday

MissSmiley · 17/12/2020 09:55

Meant to say East Midlands

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 11:05

Thank you, I’m almost at 72 hours now.

I hope everyone else gets their results back soon and they are negative.

My friend, 3rd in her family to test: 24 hours.
Her DH, 2nd: 48 hours.
Their DS, 1st: still waiting.

They tested in October. Both who got results, positive.

HairyFloppins · 17/12/2020 11:27

Posted Monday 14th results back for me and dd about 6 and 7pm yesterday. We are West Mids.

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 11:38

@HairyFloppins I posted mine the same day. Hoping they come back soon. I’m constantly checking my phone. I hope yours were negative and that you’re all ok.

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 11:40

@amicissimma that’s my fear, that they’ll get lost. If we get much past 72 hours then I’ll book a drive in test as I need to ensure I have a result before I can no longer test again.

Hope you get yours soon bettydot. Ours are positive unfortunately but day 9 for us.

They lost Dh's first set of results last week and he had to go out and get it done again. They lost everyone's who went for a drive through test that morning. Useless!

Hellotheresweet · 17/12/2020 12:24

Sunday morning and no word

Did you get a message to say that had been received? I haven’t

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 12:34

@HairyFloppins sorry to hear that, hope you’re all doing ok. What were your early symptoms? I’d be on day 7 of positive. Going to book a drive through if we get past 72 hours as have no faith in the test definitely coming back.

@Hellotheresweet was yours drive through or postal? They don’t message to say they’ve got them but if it’s postal you can check the Royal Mail tracking code. Mine was delivered on Tuesday.

Bettydot my first symptoms were a tickly cough and a fever. DH's was a fever and a splitting headache.

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 14:28

@HairyFloppins I hope you’re not feeling too bad I’ve just got a mild occasional cough, slightly sore throat and get the occasional flashes where I feel hot but my temp barely goes up from normal. I’m hoping it’s a standard winter bug. Wishing you all a speedy recovery.

29 hours in the end
Came back positive
He also tested positive in October 51 days ago

MissSmiley · 17/12/2020 17:48

@Bettydot have you still not got your result? You can call 119 to chase it if necessary

Hellotheresweet · 17/12/2020 18:42

Sent on Sunday
They received yesterday

Hoping for a result tonight?

PenguinLost · 17/12/2020 18:48

Drive through test at 3pm on Monday, results received at 6am this morning so around 63 hours in total .

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 21:12

Oh no @MissSmiley I hope he’s doing ok. Finally got it back this evening after 80 hours, is negative which is a relief. I hope everyone else gets theirs back soon and that all of you with positive results have mild cases and a speedy recovery.

OllietheOwl · 17/12/2020 21:16

Finally got mine too! Negative thankfully. However my app is saying I still need to isolate (I was tracked and traced, had minor symptoms so got a test).
Surely if I didn’t have the virus on Tuesday and have isolated since, I won’t have it now?

myhobbyisouting · 17/12/2020 21:18

You still need to isolate as a contact @OllietheOwl

OllietheOwl · 17/12/2020 21:21

@myhobbyisouting but why? What’s the risk now?

Bettydot · 17/12/2020 21:32

@OllietheOwl unfortunately when you are tracked and traced you still need to do the full period of isolation regardless of a negative test as the incubation period is at least 10 days so if you’ve had contact with a positive case you may still be incubating the virus and not come down with symptoms until 10 days after contact. How long do you have to go?

OP posts:
myhobbyisouting · 17/12/2020 21:35

Because of the incubation period. You can't test yourself out of isolation

OllietheOwl · 17/12/2020 21:36

Thanks @Bettydot. I’ve only got 4 days from tomorrow. My husband can take the kids out this weekend then, I have to stay on the sofa Grin
