Advice Please - child in bubble testing positive

Any advice appreciated.

My triplets are in YR6 - a child in their year group has been off school since (including) Monday (14th) and we have this evening been told they have tested positive. My children have had no contact with this child since Friday (11th) - what is our isolation period? Is it from tomorrow? Or the last contact with the infected child?

Hope that makes sense? I may be desperately clutching at straws that we are able to see my mother at Christmas.

It's from last contact, so 21st

When did the child develop symptoms? If Monday then I think you’re fine. If Saturday then you should isolate from Saturday + 10 days.

However, if your Mum is vulnerable I'd be particularly cautious. Incubation can be up to 14 days and children are more likely to be asymptomatic but could still be infectious. They can also display different symptoms so I'd be particularly wary of things like tummy ache, headache, generally under the weather.

When we the child's first symptom? If more than 48 hrs after last contact with your children then they aren't considered a contact so they don't need to isolate.

As per ProfessorInkling... Even worst case scenerio you will be out for Christmas day! 🎄😁🎅

Thanks all for your advice. I’m going to contact school tomorrow to find out re. first symptoms but am hopeful for Christmas.

Yes it does depend on when symptoms were. If your kids weren't in contact in the 48 hours before symptoms started then they won't need to isolate

have school told you to self isolate? if the child didn't present symptoms until sunday/monday you'd be in the clear.
Worst case scenario your 10 days started last Friday.
