that in Wales we will be starting 2021 in lockdown with no end date :( Was hoping to return to work after long term sick leave at the end of December but with every lockdown my anxiety gets worse :(

I feel for you all in Wales. From the 28th I just read online? It was going to be Christmas Day but that could be the news getting that wrong.
Long road ahead for you all :(

bathsh3ba · 16/12/2020 15:35

Yes, the lack of exit plan is what is the most worrying, though I imagine the vaccine is the exit plan... Not in Wales but feel for you. I thought the last firebreak they had was not meant to have had much of an effect.

SomewhereEast · 16/12/2020 15:37

I don't what to say but sorry. Inflicting a third lockdown on people with no exit date is brutal.

RubyFakeLips · 16/12/2020 15:42

You have my sympathies.

From everything I’ve seen, I expect the rest of the UK to be in the same boat not long after.

During second lockdown I found that it was much better to try and find enjoyment rather than looking forward to it being over. Weirdly the time seems to pass more quickly. I started a project on a topic I’m interested in and have tried to take up some new exercise.

Focus on yourself and make goals which cannot be restricted by lockdown as something to look forward to.

Will have to rethink all the goals I had set. Im returning to work the day we go into lockdown, had planned my phased return around bus times (which will all change now due to lockdown) and planned to treat myself after work to a coffee at costa and relax there before returning home. Guess I will need to find different treats now :(

I thought drakeford speech said initial 3 weeks then reviewed.
Only 2house holds meet at Xmas.

U8myufo · 16/12/2020 16:47

It is the uncertainty of no end date that I find worrying. It could just rumble on and before we know it, January has passed. If the cases where people have spread it around over Christmas start to show up in the stats a few weeks into January then I feel things are unlikely to change at the review date. It's just endless.

I agree I have a feeling we won't see any improvement on figures until early/mid Feb because of Christmas and will be in lockdown until at least then.

Aw, OP. Plan some nice treats for home or take some coffee to a nice place to sit outside, if it's not raining. Coronavirus is BS Sad

MrsLeclerc · 16/12/2020 18:05

I’m with you OP. The figures here are horrendous (I’m South Wales) so I agree with the lockdown but it just feels never ending.

I had a little cry when we went into the firebreak lockdown but this time I’m just a bit numb. I was so excited for Christmas when the figures were looking good and we had plans to mix. Now we’re just going to stick to Skype.

Also dreading the supermarkets closing off the non essential bits again. DS is 2 and I’ve had to try to get all his clothes and shoes online since March! (He always seems to change size on the first day of a lockdown!)

Sorry that your plans for the new year have been derailed Flowers

tinselearedcow · 16/12/2020 18:11

South Wales here too. Feeling pretty down as well. It's clear now that we opened up too much after the firebreak. I do think other parts of the UK will end up in the same boat, sadly, especially if there is a lot of Christmas mixing.

We were warned that we were in for a grim winter, they weren't bloody joking.

MrsLeclerc you will be able to do click and collect for non-essentials even if the aisles are roped off again.

MrsLeclerc · 16/12/2020 18:48

@tinselearedcow oh thank goodness! My local Tesco is very high handed with the aisle closures.

Let’s hope we all get great, time consuming Christmas presents to fill the dark evenings and weekends! Plenty of jigsaws, books and hobby bits. Slightly regretting asking for new hair straighteners but at least my colleagues can admire my hair via Zoom Grin.

tinselearedcow · 16/12/2020 19:13

MrsLeclerc plenty of time to experiment with different styles!

Im in Mid Wales so figures not so bad but I understand its for the best the whole country locks down. I just hope hospitals don't stop appointments, I have a follow up scan from treatment I received during lockdown in January so hopefully that will go ahead. Every time we go to lockdown/firebreak I have important hospital appointments 😩
OP posts:
MrsLeclerc · 16/12/2020 21:41

@user528019 oh no, hope they keep your appointment. Hopefully the hospitals are still doing them where you are. I’ve been waiting for a consultant appointment to follow up an MRI I had in Sept 2019. I had a letter 7 months ago and a text today asking if I still wanted to be on the list!

DH has had an issue with his tooth (the same one) every lockdown. Half of it fell off, then the filling bit they put on fell out and it started bleeding this evening. I honestly thing his tooth and DS’s feet get news updates Hmm
