Are more tier changes due tomorrow?

Or was yesterday all there are going to be?

I'm sorry I'm looking online seeing different answers different places.

I'm in Surrey. Cases are rising here and I really think most southern counties need to go to Tier 3.

Yes think yesterday was because it couldn't wait but still everywhere else is still review 16th announce 17th action 19th.

Mindymomo · 15/12/2020 15:38

Yes, there’s still going to be a review tomorrow.

LastChristmas20 · 15/12/2020 15:58

Thanks all.

Maybe I'm the only person hoping for an increase but cases are very close to home now and I really want locals to take this more seriously.

I hope Surrey doesn't go into tier 3, I live right on the border and it makes everyday travel very tricky, as I am sure eg people living in Chester who use shops in Wales, or vice versa would attest!

I don't think Hampshire needs to be in tier three and Devon and Dorset definitely don't, so I'm not sure why the OP thinks "most" southern countries need to be tier 3. There are parts of Devon and Dorset which could join Cornwall and IOW in tier one in fact.

LastChristmas20 · 15/12/2020 16:26

Living on the border is hardly going to affect travel. A barricade won't go up.

And I meant south eastern counties.

Isnt there a big issue at a Devon hospital?

kittensarecute · 15/12/2020 16:32

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE

Isnt there a big issue at a Devon hospital?
There is but it's not just due to covid.
THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/12/2020 18:35

I thought i saw they had hundreds of staff self isolating

Paddingtonthebear · 15/12/2020 18:39

I can’t see them moving anyone down a tier tomorrow. More likely they will reverse the plan for Christmas and bring in more restrictions

nancy75 · 15/12/2020 18:43

I agree, I think everyone will be staying where they are or moving up.
They’ve obviously made a massive error with the Xmas plan & are no doubt desperately scrabbling round looking for a way out of it without actually saying they are cancelling Xmas.

Hmmph · 15/12/2020 18:50

Cases in Surrey are shooting up. The county does need moving into tier 3 sooner rather than later. If they don’t put it up tomorrow, they will on 23rd unless there is a miraculous downturn.

Oh ok my mistake I apologise.
99victoria · 15/12/2020 19:30

I'm getting really annoyed that the press are using the term 'the south-east' to refer to Hertfordshire and Essex! I'm in Hampshire and our cases are falling. I also have friends and relatives in West and East Sussex where cases are not rising - we are all in the South-East and for some reason, being lumped together with London and it's immediate neighbours

DebbieFiderer · 15/12/2020 19:46

Cases are rising in Surrey, certainly, but I'm hoping we will escape tier 3 as they also take into account the demographics of those testing positive (seems to be a lot in secondary schools, not sure about levels in the over 60s) and capacity in the hospitals, and as far as I'm aware the hospitals are OK (certainly the one I work in seems to be so far).

movingonup20 · 15/12/2020 21:39

@nancy75

We were promised that we would be reduced after wrongly being put in tier 3, I suspect there would be outright revolt if they didn't change it. Our rate was half that of Liverpool and London at the time of the first tiers, it's now 60/100k

nancy75 · 15/12/2020 21:51

movingonup20 the way they’ve been talking I think they’ll keep everywhere high because of the Xmas easing. The rate in my London borough was in the 30s & now it’s 200 & something - I think there’s going to be a lot of panicking going on about tier 2 not really working. Obviously I don’t know what they’ll do but I wouldn’t be surprised. I think there are going to be a lot of pissed off people

Heatheronthehill · 15/12/2020 22:08

What about here in the North West where cases are falling?

nancy75 · 15/12/2020 22:18

Don’t panic, I’m not making the rules! It’s just what I think might happen given the obvious worry about the Xmas easing.

OrangeBananaFish · 15/12/2020 22:19

I live in tier 2, but only 1.5 miles away from the next county in tier 3. I do my weekly shopping in tier 3 (have been for years) and was in tier 3 tonight for a run with some friends. Not had any issue crossing the border.

Titsywoo · 15/12/2020 22:42

I also live in Surrey on the border of a London Borough - we are very close in numbers to them (and much higher than places like Kensington which are 158 per 100,000). Not sure we will go to tier 2 tomorrow but I'm sure it's not far off!

Crumpetycrump · 15/12/2020 22:58

I’m in Bristol in tier 3 - our numbers have fallen to 117 per 100,000 - I think that makes us lower than many tier 2 areas. I wonder what will happen to us tomorrow?

Youngatheart00 · 15/12/2020 23:01

I think they will be reluctant to reduce any tiers this side of Xmas due to the risk Xmas already presents. Imagine pubs reopening and people cramming in due to pent up demand and ‘it’s Xmas after all’. It would be a disaster.

timeforanewstart · 15/12/2020 23:03

@Crumpetycrump i am in another area of somerset and our cases have gone above bristol now so wondering if we will go to tier 3, but I don't think its just numbers alone they take into account

Crumpetycrump · 15/12/2020 23:08

No it’s not just the numbers that’s true. I understand from a friend that our hospitals at busy but not so much now with covid.

Crumpetycrump · 15/12/2020 23:10

It would seem a bit unfair that we didn’t go for a meal in a pub in tier 2 area when our cases are lower than theirs! I have a Boxing Day booking that I’m hoping we can keep after a country walk...
