Isolation/ contact question

If a person has had symptoms for a week, but only got a test 7 days in, am I right in thinking that contacts would only be asked to isolate for the remainder of the 10 day isolation period or would it be 10 days from the positive result?

It wd be 10 days from the onset of symptoms

As Pp said, but I didn't think you could test after 5 days?

You can test after 5 days. I did. It came back positive

It's 10 days from contact with the case

Thanks all. So if we’ve had contact everyday for 7 days, I assume it would be from the first day of contact rather than the last?
