My 91 year old aunt lives in a care home.
On Thursday the manager phoned to say she has covid.
Friday she had a high temperature.
Saturday confusion.
Today she has started with a cough.
We are not allowed to see her and can't go to the window as it is at the back. And she is too ill to use the phone.
Of course with it being weekend no doctor.
She does have a DNAR in place.
Frightening time for the family.

Thanks hope she's ok

Exactly the same happened to my grandma in her rehab unit. She was 91 in April. After a few days feeling bloody awful, with the confusion of her dementia exacerbated, she is now much better. Just tired out now, but in good spirits.

I know how worrying it is, but please try not to worry. "91 year old gets covid and gets better" doesn't tend to make the news, but it's still the most likely outcome statistically.

Flowers for you.

Aw, that's such a worry. I hope she will make a fast and full recovery.

YesMeLady · 13/12/2020 21:40

I wish her a quick recovery, doctors are available out of hours at weekends. These are such difficult timesFlowers

Anecdata, I know, but my 95 year old grandfather caught it in his care home over the summer and recovered well and quickly.
Being over 90 is obviously a risk but there are still good outcomes, so fingers crossed for you and your relative.

Wishing you well, OP.

You don't get to 91 without being tough Flowers

Sorry to hear this. My aunt had covid earlier this year at 93yo and has fully recovered. She had minimal symptoms though. Wishing you all well.

Saw a report on tv last week from a care home, all residents tested positive, bar one and all are now ok. Hope your aunt recovers.
