Covid 19 vaccine vaccination numbers, why won't they tell us?

MG2020 · 13/12/2020 14:09

I've been looking for a few days about the number of people vaccinated in the UK. However, this appears to be some kind of secret.

Does anyone know how many people have been vaccinated and how many vaccinations we have in the UK and what we can expect by mid Jan 2021?

I fear this secrecy means that things are not going to plan and when Matt Hancock said the other day that tens of thousands of people had been vaccinated, it was far from true.

You may recall the figures about Covid 19 tests when we were told x amount of tests were carried out but they failed to declare that everyone had at least two tests and many NHS staff and others in hospital were being tested several times a day therefore 100k tests may have been 20k tests in reality.

I want the jab and so do our children but both are severely allergic so we are praying for others to come on line ASAP.

BBC on IT system problems causing delays in some places

www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55302724

Don’t know why the BBC is hiding the report away in Business News. Oh, hang on, yes I do. It’s to hide it away.

Fizbosshoes · 17/12/2020 09:06

My PIL are having their first jab on saturday

StCharlotte · 17/12/2020 09:23

@StCharlotte

One of four vaccination centres in the county has opened up today across the road from me (handy!) and was very busy when I went past just now.

As of last night my 89 year old MIL, who's registered at the neighbouring surgery, hadn't been called. So close and yet so far... It's driving her (and us) mad!

MIL ended up ringing her surgery to see what was happening to be told the first batch has been allocated (unsurprisingly) and that she is of course on the list.

She's pretty pissed off that her younger best friend already has an appointment (different surgery).

Just some observations about the process and administration of the vaccine. I had mine along with a number of colleagues early this week at our local Trust which has three vax stations each doing five min slots from 8-8 mon - fri and 8-4 weekends. Our employer (Social Care) had registered details of staff with CQC and they issued an on-line link for staff to book.

All very easy - although the take up across our sites has been lower than I would expect. Also although the process seemed easy. I did observe a few issues when I was waiting for and having the vax. Early this week, everyone was interviewed by a clinician and anyone even hinting at an allergy ("well I did get a rash after eating some mussels in Fuengirola last year,.....) was turned away. Also people didnt have their paperwork and consent letters complete or had no ID. You need you NHS number

Finally, this Trust were booking you in for the next one exactly three weeks forward- so make sure you can attend that date.

Jab was pain free and I had maybe 24 hours of very low level ache. There's a compulsory 15 minute observation session after before yo can leave

MG2020 · 17/12/2020 12:55

Another day another lie by Matt Hancock & Co. Lies re trac and test, lies re PPE and lies re covid vacinnations, EG "we expect millions to get vaccinated by the end of the year. At the rate they are goinf, we'd be luck to get 350k jabbed.

Those that we banging about "figures are not important" hopefully can now see that we do need figures/etc in order to determine and confirm the BS spouted by this inadequated bunch of clowns.

Bring in the army as we need to vaccinate 3 million peopple daily to get the 75% of the nation vaccinated by June 2021

At the rate they are goinf, we'd be luck to get 350k jabbed.

But they’re going at that rate because they have one vaccine, in limited numbers, with very difficult storage requirements. The rate will increase as other vaccines come through.

By this logic we shouldn’t have been worried about covid at all, since there were only about six cases in the first week.

cathyandclare · 17/12/2020 13:03

How do you get that number??

Do you want a medal as well?
TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 17/12/2020 13:09

Seriously MG2020 are you ok? You are starting to sound detached from reality.
We don’t need to vaccinate 3 million a day. There are only about 68 million people in the country.

Right now the NHS are doing an excellent job and wouldn’t currently be helped by having the army. If the numbers aren’t achieved in the new year it is far more likely to be problems with supply than the NHS not doing their job. I expect a bit of military support might be planned for the big centres but they won’t be coming on stream until we have the Oxford vaccine and a much greater supply of doses than at present.

Are you for real? Why the fuck would you want to bring in the army for? I think you would have loved living during the 1930- and 40-s
sashagabadon · 17/12/2020 13:19

No need for that Kurva Hmm
I found Hobbes post interesting as a first hand experience plus the point about being free 3 weeks later was useful info

Why so cross with her just relating her experience?

I thought is was interesting too.

Parker231 · 17/12/2020 13:41

I think the Army should be involved. They are logistics experts and have the resources to handle the largest vaccination programme in the U.K..

trulydelicious · 17/12/2020 13:46

@Hobbesmanc

I found your level-headed account helpful even if I'm not planning on having these vaccines for now

Thank you for sharing

The army have said they don't have the resources.
MistletoeandGin · 17/12/2020 13:54

Do people realise the army have an actual job to do? They’re not sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting to be called up to deliver vaccinations if or when required. Where would they find the extra resource?

Parker231 · 17/12/2020 14:02

The army have already been involved in the mass testing programme.
inews.co.uk/news/politics/coronavirus-uk-latest-army-help-nhs-deliver-vaccination-push-643706/amp
So, with the Oxford vaccine set to gain approval with weeks, why hasn't the Govt got the ball rolling and set up these Army run centres?

We now have a very small armed forces and as the pp said, they aren't all sitting around with nothing to do.

For the sake of clarity, no for one mo am I blaming our great NHS, front line staff, it the inept people leading our country that are at fualt.

They cite computer problems yet bleated on about "being prepared."

Apologies for ask, but what "job" do most of them do daily?

We have about 2 dozen manning a couple of testing stations but that is it.

The military need to man the vab stations . We also need need someone else to lead the vaccination programme where ite coputer sytem is not failying at the stat where they may only be injecting a few thousand people a day.

We need about three million people vaccinated daily to have 80% jabbed by June - this will never happen, sadly.

The USA are jabbing hundreds of thousands daily. The alo had a free for all a few weeks ago oduring their Thanksgiving and this has resulted in death rates shooting up from the hundred to almost 4000 daily and infection rates by tens of thousands.
