Covid 19 vaccine vaccination numbers, why won't they tell us?

I've been looking for a few days about the number of people vaccinated in the UK. However, this appears to be some kind of secret.

Does anyone know how many people have been vaccinated and how many vaccinations we have in the UK and what we can expect by mid Jan 2021?

I fear this secrecy means that things are not going to plan and when Matt Hancock said the other day that tens of thousands of people had been vaccinated, it was far from true.

You may recall the figures about Covid 19 tests when we were told x amount of tests were carried out but they failed to declare that everyone had at least two tests and many NHS staff and others in hospital were being tested several times a day therefore 100k tests may have been 20k tests in reality.

I want the jab and so do our children but both are severely allergic so we are praying for others to come on line ASAP.

On the Ourworld in data site, it gives 800,000 as the number for the UK.

Sky News

More than 600,000 people in the UK have received the first dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, the Department of Health and Social Care has said.

Figures show that between 8 December and 20 December, a total of 616,933 people received the jab.

Under government guidance, in line with advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the vaccines have been administered to care home residents, those aged 80 and over and health and social care staff through more than 500 vaccination sites across the UK.

Parker231 · 24/12/2020 19:35

The number of people who have received their first dose of the vaccine in each of the four nations is 521,594 in England, 56,676 in Scotland, 22,595 in Wales and 16,068 in Northern Ireland.

I notice OP hasn’t been back for a while. It’s obviously all going too well and doesn’t fit the narrative.

I read that they have vaccinated over 11% days of over 80's with the frontline staff on top. I know it isn't a magic bullet and there is a long way to go, but it is significant. I'm going to try and obsess over the vaccine numbers rather than the daily infections!

I don't know where days came from in that post!

They were aspiring to 500k by the end of the weekend so that means they actually smashed through that target with 616,933 by the end of Sunday. That’s marvellous. There are some people in the NHS and other areas (part of the civil service I presume, for a start, possibly the army) working very hard right now when many of us are winding down for Christmas. Thank you to all of them Flowers

I can't help thinking that if the Government (and whatever minister they've appointed To Be In Charge) just stays out of the way and it is left to local NHS/public health, with logistical support from the army if necessary to get on with it, it might actually work. It's also one of those things where the overall number to be vaccinated looks scary, but if you break it down on a county by county/practice by practice basis it's not too bad.

Bradford Royal doctor commenting that they will get double supplies from next week so vaccinating twice as many. Hopefully the same for other locations. "In the hospital we have been getting our weekly delivery of one tray or "pizza box" of 195 Pfizer vaccine vials every week. The national guidance recommended five doses per vial, allowing us to vaccinate 975 people every week. However, this is precious stuff, and it is quite possible to squeeze a sixth dose from the vials, increasing our coverage to 1,170 people every week. From next week we will ramp up to two trays and 2,340 vaccines per week."

That kind of information gives a bit of sunshine to the end of a cloudy year. Thank you for sharing Smile

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 26/12/2020 12:58

Interesting that it says ‘first dose total’. That suggests they will be telling us separate figures for first and second doses, unlike the global tracker linked elsewhere that just has total doses.

Vaccine minister is saying they are expecting approval for Oxford jab on MondaySmile

The rolling out it properly on 4th January.

Fingers crossed he is right.
