How does it work? Will everyone be tested in these LAs or just certain groups? Read and re-read the news but not wiser.

There is testing currently going on in my borough. It started just over a week ago. It’s invitation only. At first it was critical workers and families, it’s now being extended out to residents. On Friday DD’s primary school sent me an email from PHE with a link to a booking form and we have four sites to choose from.

That’s how it seems to be working in our borough but I don’t know about other boroughs. Have you looked on your councils website? There should be info on there.

I'm volunteering at a community testing centre locally. It's only for asymptomatic people because local levels are so high and there's a study looking to see how many asymptomatic carriers of the virus there are .

We are seeing about 400 people a day but getting very few positive results thankfully.

so not everyone who is asymptomatic is getting a test then? I imagined it a bit like the moonshot thingy.

I think they’re doing the most at risk groups first

  • people who work in public facing roles
  • people who live in postcodes where there is a high number of positive cases and then working their way out from there.
