DP received a message From the track and trace stating that he had been in close contact with someone who had tested positive and that he needed to self isolate. The initial end of isolation date is 21st. So he went for a test today (advised by gp due to medical reasons) about an hour after he’s had the test he then receives an isolation notice to now isolate until Christmas Day. We are trying to figure out which one to listen to as they both run via the nhs. Anyone else have the same issue?

So both messages from the app you mean?

AcornAutumn · 12/12/2020 23:43

What information did you provide to the to the Testing people?

The app isn’t legally enforceable.

Comefromaway · 12/12/2020 23:52

If you book for a test and tick the box to say you have symptoms instead of the box saying I have been asked to get a test by my local authority/NHS trust etc then you have to isolate for 10 days or until you get a negative result.

The app is voluntary.

PurpleDaisies · 12/12/2020 23:52

Self isolation as a contact is ten days now. It was changed recently. The Christmas Day one must be wrong. I think they were from the old guidelines which were two weeks.

PurpleDaisies · 12/12/2020 23:55

I should say, the self isolation guidance officially changes Monday but your dh will fall under the new criteria of ten days.

Torvean32 · 13/12/2020 00:04

Did the second message say he has tested positive? If he is it's 14 days from his test.

PurpleDaisies · 13/12/2020 09:24

This isn’t correct. It has been ten days from symptoms/positive test date if no symptoms for a long time.

This is absolute rubbish. It is 10 days from when symptoms started as long as there is no fever after that point.
SufferingFromLongLockdown · 13/12/2020 09:54

Could he have come into contact with someone who was positive whilst at the testing center?

Randomrebel · 13/12/2020 09:59

I don’t know but awhile ago a friend whose whole family had tested positive wanted to go back to work and work were refusing to let her go back until she tested negative. She had three further tests (a week apart) and each one was still showing positive. In the end track and trace said if she had no symptoms she could go back to work but she was off for 5 weeks. So I would still be cautious who your mixing with at Christmas.

Frazzled2207 · 13/12/2020 10:03

I def heard that the app was not able to be updated until Thursday and you could take away 3 days from that day it told you until then

Ltdannygreen · 13/12/2020 16:05

Got his test results back and they are negative, but he still has to isolate for 9 days, thankfully the rest of us don’t. Track and trace then said he has to go for another one on Thursday. Not sure what’s happening. Not sure everyone is on the same level in regards to what’s happening seem to get conflicting advice.

Did you speak to T&T then? Why did they say to go for another test??

movingonup20 · 13/12/2020 18:36

Could it be he's been in contact with 2 people with positive results?

Ltdannygreen · 13/12/2020 22:33

@Augustbreeze

No he received the message to say he is negative but should still isolate for the remaining 9 days, then he recieved an email with a note stating he should isolate until the 25th and should have another test in 4 days 😩 as far as he’s aware it’s just the one person ☹️
OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 13/12/2020 22:42

They’ve made a mistake. To justify him isolating until the 25th, the contact would have to be on the 15th. Which hasn’t happened yet.

Just ignore that date.

Comefromaway · 14/12/2020 01:19

As of tomorrow you only have to isolate for 10 days. The app won’t be updated straight away (it’s not a legal requirement anyway) and anyone currently isolating can reduce their time.
