Test again or not?

DS was ill with sore throat a week ago, which turned into a persistent (chesty) cough the following day. He was tested on Saturday afternoon- negative.

Last weekend he was full of cold too so put his symptoms down to a regular cold. He had a few more days off school after the negative test as his cough was still frequent.

The cough never went completely but became sporadic/mild enough to justify him going back to school, but it's worsened again now and he's coughing constantly today.

Should I have confidence in last weekends negative result, or should I get him tested again?

No fever, no change in taste, no other symptoms now apart from a hacking dry cough.

Not sure what the responsible thing to do here is?
