Sorry this has probably been asked a million times- what age do they test children ? My child vomited once a few days ago which then turned into a cold, there full of snot but no temperature. They’ve just started constantly coughing really badly at night but not in the day? Would I need to get them a test ?

Yes you need to get them tested and isolate. They can have tests at that age but probably be done just the nose swab.

My friend's baby had confirmed Covid at 4 weeks old back in April so yes, they do test even newborns, babies and toddlers. I think it was a nose swab only.

Tested my 2.5 year old last night, nose swap only, I'm in Scotland and tested at 5pm and had the results at 4am this morning

We had to test my 16mo. Could do just the nose one tho happily. Wasn't fun but she did it.

The swab is fine; take tissues as you need to clear their nose of any snot before you do the swab.

The results usually come 24-72 hours later

Well I got symptoms too so also got a test . Looks like I took my test wrong feeling like an idiot, i swabbed the back of my throat and toungue. Didn’t realise you weren’t meant to touch the toungue 😞 will it come back inconclusive?

I wouldn't have tested if child was only coughing at night and not during day.

Coughing at night with a cold is common as they are led down so flem gathers at back of throat.

@Lazypuppy

We both started coughing in the day
