Am I being paranoid?

Work in an educational facility.

Came into contact yesterday - same room - as an unwell child (sore stomach). Child had no temp. Remained in same room for approx 5 mins. 2 m distance mostly. 1metre for a few minutes (child used phone). Both in masks. Child then in vicinity for further 20 mins or so. At least 1.5 metre distance. Their mask off as having a drink.

Child's parent has COVID. Just heard. They live together.

Child isolating and being tested now.

I've a slightly scratchy throat, slightly sore head and sniffly nose. I'm also cream crackered but work hard so totally normal.

I'm being paranoid aren't I?

Paranoid & Friday-itis.

covid usually takes much longer than 24 hours after exposure to first symptom

I thought that 😁 thoughts of covid can boggle the brain can't they?!

Personally though if I were you, I'd be going out tonight and getting all your Christmas shopping done because if that child tests positive you'll be isolating until Xmas eve

Seems a bit soon for symptoms op, unless you were with them earlier in the week too? Take care Flowers

Actually in the light of the new changes to isolation, you'd only need to isolate until 18th wouldn't you?

I wouldn't do this! Especially as it is likely that the child will be positive as they were unwell and had a parent with it..

Op, did the child's parent only today find out? Trying to work out why the child was in school if parent was positive (or waiting for a result) unless they are NHS and it was a routine test.

Iwonder777 · 11/12/2020 19:50

It was a routine parent test as works in the health sector.
