I know it's different for everyone but when did your smell and taste return?

Bonkerz · 11/12/2020 15:18

I'm on day 30 post positive test. Have taste back but can still smell smoke in one nostril all the time

WentworthPrison · 11/12/2020 15:21

When did it come back Bonkerz? I'm on day 8.

helloxhristmas · 11/12/2020 15:22

WentworthPrison · 11/12/2020 15:24

Had Covid symptoms, including loss of smell and taste just after 1st lockdown starting before widespread testing available.

Still not back fully for either taste or smell, although they are better than they were

DPotter · 11/12/2020 15:33

So that's 9 months

WentworthPrison · 11/12/2020 15:36

Oh God. It's killing me to not be able to smell and taste at this time of year.

About 2 weeks here

Rowgtfc72 · 11/12/2020 16:02

Taste came back almost perfect after 2 weeks. I'm now nearly 2 months on and my sense of smell isn't always reliable.

loonietoon · 11/12/2020 16:04

I'm 8 weeks in so far and no smell or taste returned 😩😩

Lostinacloud · 11/12/2020 16:08

Smell came back slowly but steadily around 2 weeks after I lost it. Taste took a bit longer to fully kick in but did come back after 3-4 weeks.

Isadora2007 · 11/12/2020 16:12

Still waiting for full taste and smell. It’s not completely gone but smell is less than taste
Maybe 40/50% taste back and 25% smell.
Had covid the 10th October...

Coolcatsandkittens · 11/12/2020 16:14

@Bonkerz I thought it was just me who can constantly smell smoke!!

3 weeks after testing positive taste and smell coming back slowly, not reliable though.

Lastfreakinglegs · 11/12/2020 16:18

Mostly taste is back. Smell is only 30 percent. Had Covid months ago.

I had what I presume was corona in March just before the first lockdown. I had two weeks with no sense of smell at all (couldn’t even smell bleach, poo, coffee, eucalyptus oil) and very little taste (tea tasted like water and food tasted like cardboard). After that I started to be able to smell a hint of strong smells and after six weeks I could smell most smells but some (mangoes, oranges!) smelled weird for at least six months. It’s the weirdest illness. I got a bit depressed about it so googled and did some ‘smell training’ which I think meant my sense of smell came back quicker.

noonaah · 11/12/2020 19:35

Wow this is worse than I thought, I’m only on day 3 and was hoping my taste would come back soon Sad

flissity · 11/12/2020 19:40

DH had it in March. Sorry but his smell is not back 100%. He has the issue of things smelling disgusting (to him) random things though. Mint, certain cleaning products, foods cooking. It’s common apparently, there was a bbc article about it. This has developed over the last few months but I believe he is now getting more back to normal. Although very slowly.

@WentworthPrison

There was an interesting piece on getting your sense of smell back on TV the other day. It was one of the crappy breakfast type programs, but if you Google you should find it. None of the things they were using were exotic it expensive, but apparently the balance of them helped, daily therapy.

Goid luck!!

Same. First week of April. I’ve stopped with the phantom smells now, but many things don’t smell or taste right at all.
Sparkledot · 11/12/2020 22:16

My sense of taste went end of April ish and still isn't back all of the time. Some days it's fine and some days I can't taste at all. It's rubbish.

Sparkledot · 11/12/2020 22:18

Also lots of things still smell strange, couple of examples I hate deodorant and raw meat smells absolutely awful even when it's not close to me

Chocarocker · 11/12/2020 22:41

My taste and smell disappeared completely at the very end of March/beginning of April - no other symptoms but potentially covid as total smell and taste loss (couldn’t smell coffee, vicks vapour rub or any string smells or taste anything at all) for around 8/10 days and then it started to come back gradually and was relatively normal again after around 3 weeks. Maybe isn’t 100% as good as it was previously however.

PrivateD00r · 11/12/2020 23:03

Mines been gone completely for 6 weeks now, really hoping its back for Christmas dinner!
