What symptoms did your young children have? My dd who is 5 is loaded with a cold, should I get her tested because as soon as I mention she will be off with a heavy cold, I know the school will say she needs tested. Wwyd?

It's a difficult one because there are still other virus circulating.

My Dd has had a cold. The same as she gets every year around this time. She didn't have any of the main three symptoms for testing though, so I didn't test.

I know some people will tell you to absolutely test. But a line had to be drawn somewhere with the three symptoms, other wise we'd all be testing for every bug we picked up.

And it doesn't matter what the school says.
Unless she has one of the main symptoms, she wouldn't be tested.

I absolutely agree with you. The teacher said today that she told them she felt unwell, so now I got an email asking how she was, I said she's got a heavy cold and they said they don't recommend she comes in. I will just keep her off til the cold goes. Thanks for your advice.x

Absolutely get her tested, can't believe anyone wouldn't. Don't you want to know if you need to isolate, or would you prefer to carry on shopping in blissful ignorance and spread it around?

There you go, here's the full list

@Opentooffers what is that list?
It's just not realistic to get everyone who has a cold tested. It's winter, people will get colds!

Katya213 · 11/12/2020 00:18

So I lie to get her tested?

@Katya213

So I lie to get her tested?
No don't bother. She has a cold, colds still exist. At the first sign of one of the 3 symptoms and lack of taste and smell then get her tested... are the tests still huge swabs up the nostrils? I wouldn't do it unless I really had to and I wouldn't want my kids to do that either unless totally necessary

My sons just tested positive. He started with a headache and belly ache, which didn't scream covid to me. Then he developed a temperature and cough. He was already self isolating due to close contact with a + case at school.
